Major news for education in Sunderland! 🏫✨ Sunderland City Council has acquired Sunderland College’s former Washington campus for £2.65m to expand specialist SEND provision.

Under new proposals, Barbara Priestman Academy could relocate to the site, uniting its main provision and sixth form while creating modern facilities and new playing fields.

Supported by up to £5m in DfE funding, the project aims to meet rising local demand.

📅 Applications are open from 28 September 2026 until 15 January 2027, however, applications received after 15 January 2027 may reduce your chance of being offered your preferred school
