We won’t tolerate swearing, threats or abuse online just as we don’t offline, any posts or comments that a defamatory or slanderous against an individual or those that will cause offence. We won’t deal with your query on social media. We’ll direct you to other channels instead. We’d like you not to be personal. If you’ve a complaint to make we’ll look into it. We’d like you not to spam or advertise. Our social media channels aren’t the place for followers to advertise. Making the same points over and over - otherwise known as spamming - isn’t for our social media. You’ll be better off contacting us another way so we can look into the issue for you. We’d like you to not over-share. If you’ve got an issue we’ll happily look into it. But be careful not to post private information about yourself or others. Of course, most of the time social media works fine but on the rare occasion where you don’t stick to the house rules, we use profanity filters which automatically hide offensive posts or comments, and we reserve the right to delete offending content and block you from contacting us through that route. 🚧 Changes are taking place in Sheepfolds Neighbourhood

As regeneration work continues across Riverside Sunderland, two temporary car parks will close to allow essential infrastructure works to get underway:

📍 The triangular car park at Hay Street/Easington Street
📍 The car park next to St Peter’s Metro Station

Roads and on-street parking within the Sheepfolds neighbourhood will also close.

🍴 Sheepfolds Stables remains open as usual, with vehicle access via Richmond Street and its adjacent temporary parking area remaining available.

🚶 Pedestrian and cycle access will continue via Keel Crossing.

If you’re travelling to the Sheepfolds Stables, the Stadium of Light , British Esports Arena, HICSA or other nearby destinations by car, or arriving on foot at St Peter’s Metro Station, you will need to access the area via North Bridge Street and Millennium Way or Kier Hardie Way and Millenium Way.

Please plan your journey and allow a little extra time.

The closures are expected to remain in place beyond 2027.

More specialist support for children and young people with SEND in Sunderland.

Sunderland City Council has secured the former Washington campus, with plans that could see Barbara Priestman Academy relocate to the site.

The proposals would create a larger, more flexible learning environment, bringing the academy’s main provision and sixth form together and helping meet the growing demand for specialist SEND places across Sunderland.

The Council has acquired the site for £2.65m, with up to a further £5m available to support refurbishment and improvement works.

Most importantly, it’s about creating more space for children and young people with SEND to learn, develop and thrive.

Any move by Barbara Priestman Academy would be subject to consultation and Department for Education approval.
