A one-day Consumer Awareness Program on “Consumer Protection and Consumer Choices in the Telecommunication & Broadcasting Sector” was organized at the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), GIDA, Gorakhpur(UP) under the joint aegis of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Regional Office Bhopal, and The Institution of Engineers (India) Gorakhpur Local Chapter.
During the program, experts provided detailed insights on important topics such as telecommunication services, digital safety, cyber awareness, consumer rights, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
Chief Guest Mr. Sanjay Gupta emphasized that an aware consumer is the foundation of a “Safe and Empowered Digital India.”
Director of the institute, Dr. N. K. Singh, stated that such programs provide students with a better understanding of technical and digital systems while inspiring them to become responsible digital citizens.
Faculty members, engineers, and students enthusiastically participated in the event and interacted with experts to gain valuable knowledge on various aspects of telecommunication services and consumer rights.

Saurabh Tripathi, a second-year Polytechnic student, has successfully developed a Satellite-Based Wireless Emergency Alarm System aimed at enhancing the safety and security of train passengers.
This advanced system enables passengers to send an instant emergency alert to the GRP and concerned authorities with just a single button press during situations such as harassment, violence, or any emergency. The alert instantly shares essential details including train number, coach, and seat information directly to security personnel.
A unique feature of this innovation is its ability to function even in areas without network connectivity through radio satellite technology, ensuring assistance can reach passengers even in remote locations.
The project incorporates technologies such as GPS, Bluetooth, high-frequency signals, and camera integration.
