Dans le cadre de notre cycle de présentations d’ouvrages, nous avons eu le plaisir d’accueillir, le mercredi 14 octobre, Olivier Roy, professeur à la School of Transnational Governance de l’Institut universitaire européen (EUI), pour présenter son ouvrage « L’impossible contre-révolution culturelle ».

Cette rencontre a permis d’explorer les ambitions et les contradictions des mouvements populistes contemporains qui cherchent à reconquérir l’espace culturel. En s’appuyant sur son ouvrage, Olivier Roy a interrogé la capacité des projets de restauration des identités et des valeurs traditionnelles à retisser les liens sociaux dans un monde transformé par la mondialisation, la numérisation et l’individualisme. Les échanges ont ainsi apporté un éclairage critique sur les rapports entre culture, identité et pouvoir politique.

On Thursday, October 8, SCALES hosted a Meet & Greet for Employment with the Morocco Innovation and Evaluation Lab (MEL) of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), giving students the opportunity to engage with its representatives and learn about its work in research and policy evaluation. The session offered insights into potential career and internship opportunities, as well as the skills and profiles sought by the lab. Through discussions and networking, students explored professional pathways in applied research, impact evaluation, and evidence-informed policymaking.

Les parcours migratoires des femmes et des mineurs subsahariens au Maroc soulèvent des enjeux de protection, de résistance et d’insertion qui appellent à croiser les perspectives et les expériences.

Ces questions étaient au cœur de la présentation de l’ouvrage collectif «Femmes et mineurs en migration : parcours, résistances, insertion», organisée le mardi 6 octobre au Campus de Rabat de l’Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique.

Animée par Pr. khalid chegraoui, Vice-doyen de la FGSES et contributeur à l’ouvrage, cette rencontre a offert un espace de réflexion sur les réalités vécues par les femmes et les mineurs subsahariens installés au Maroc, les obstacles qui jalonnent leurs parcours et les ressources qu’ils mobilisent pour y faire face.

L’ouvrage interroge leur accès au logement, à l’emploi, à la santé, à l’éducation et aux droits culturels, ainsi que le rôle de la politique migratoire marocaine dans leur intégration. Il met également en lumière leur capacité à s’approprier les dispositifs d’insertion et à devenir acteurs de leur propre intégration.

On Wednesday, September 30th, we hosted a Meet & Greet for Employment with Forvis Mazars, offering students the opportunity to engage directly with the firm’s representatives and gain valuable insights into its professional environment.

The session provided a platform for students to explore potential career and internship opportunities, ask questions, and better understand the skills and profiles sought by the firm. Through open discussions and networking, participants established meaningful connections and learned more about potential career pathways in audit, consulting, tax, and financial advisory services.

CONFERENCE - SPACE LAW AND POLICY IN A TIME OF RAPID CHANGE

On Tuesday, September 22, we were delighted to welcome Michael C. Mineiro, international space and satellite lawyer, and Diane Howard, former Director of Commercial Space Policy at the U.S. National Space Council, for a conference titled “Space for the Benefit of Humanity: Space Law and Policy in a Time of Rapid Change.”

The discussion examined how legal and policy frameworks are adapting to a rapidly changing space sector shaped by technological innovation, expanding commercial activity, and the growing involvement of both public and private actors. The speakers also addressed key questions surrounding international cooperation, responsible governance, sustainability, and equitable access to the benefits of space exploration and technology.
