Foundation University students deployed 169 Bokashi balls into the Banica River this morning, marking the third consecutive year of the institution's ecological restoration initiative. This project was perfectly timed following a recent cleanup drive in the Banica River area for the International Coastal Clean-Up Drive last weekend.

The mud-based bio-balls slowly release beneficial bacteria to break down sludge, eliminate foul odors, and oxygenate the water. Once submerged, the bokashi balls help improve water quality, benefiting aquatic life.

Foundation University pledges to drop bokashi balls in the Banica River every six months until the Banica River achieves complete ecological restoration. Foundation University’s Security, Safety, and Environment Office Director Russelle Jamili notes that the university is ready to share the technology with organizations and communities who would like to adopt it.

This initiative supports multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals by improving local water quality, restoring aquatic ecosystems, and engaging youth in climate action. The project advances Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) and Life Below Water (SDG 14) through pollution reduction. It also champions Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) by offering to share this eco-friendly technology with other communities looking to restore their own waterways.

Foundation University and Base Bahay Foundation Hold Exploratory Talks on Bamboo Value Chain Research

An exciting green milestone is on the horizon as Base Bahay Foundation, Inc. (BASE), a non-profit organization dedicated to the research, development, and scaling of alternative building technologies globally, made a courtesy call at Foundation University on September 23, 2026.

The visit also served as an avenue for an exploratory meeting to formalize a research collaboration focused on advancing research within the bamboo value chain, in partnership with Kawayan Collective in Dumaguete.

Present during the discussions were BASE R&D Engineer Emmanuel Atienza and University Chancellor Dr. Charlotte Cariño, Internationalization Initiative Coordinator Dr. Anna Carla Merto, School of Industrial Engineering & Technology (SIET) Dean Prof. Marife Cabajon, and SIET professors Prof. Clint Absin, Prof. Paulina Aspilla, and Prof. Marion Tanilon of Foundation University.

The meeting established a shared direction for the research program, including key targets, timelines, and next steps for collaboration projects in bamboo research and development.

We are thrilled to see how this prospective partnership will soon be laying the foundation for a more sustainable tomorrow from the ground up by combining academic insight with green innovation.

In honor of World Rabies Day, the Foundation University Student Government partnered with the Provincial Veterinary Office of Negros Oriental and Foundation University Health Services to launch a free pet services initiative on September 23, 2026. The free pet services offered included anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, immunization, and check-ups.

Thank you to our dedicated partners, volunteers, and all the responsible pet owners who dropped by with their fur babies. Together, we are taking big steps toward a rabies-free community!

Foundation University proudly celebrates Fine Arts alumni Rey Labarento and Jude Millares as they feature in the Dumaguete Festival and Arts Society’s latest presentation, EMERGENCE: THEN and NOW.

The 3ZERO Club Foundation University Chapter, together with CWTS-LTS and the CAS Student Government, proudly joined the International Coastal Clean-Up Drive at the Banica River area.

With 462 dedicated faculty members and students coming together, the Greyhound community collected an incredible 34 sacks/bags of waste, totaling an estimated 314 kg.

This initiative supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation by helping keep our waterways clean, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting a cleaner environment, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by encouraging proper waste management, SDG 13: Climate Action through community-led environmental efforts, and SDG 14: Life Below Water by reducing waste that can harm marine life.

Thank you to everyone who showed up early in the morning to share their time and energy for this initiative. Every sack collected represents a step toward cleaner waterways, healthier marine life, and a more sustainable future.

Congratulations to the FoundationU College of Nursing for achieving a perfect 100% passing rate in the August 2026 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE).

We are one of the three universities from Dumaguete City that garnered a passing rate of 100%!

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), 28,652 out of 37,357 examinees nationwide passed the boards, resulting in a national passing rate of 76.69%.

Overcoming such a rigorous examination with a flawless passing rate beautifully reflects the dedication of our faculty and the outstanding caliber of our students.
