The College of Arts and Sciences participated in ISU Echague Cluster's Extension Review.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) made a strong showing at the 2025 Pre In-House Review for Extension Programs/Projects hosted by the Isabela State University (ISU) – Echague Cluster on October 2, 2025.

The event, held at the ISU-Echague Climate Change R&D and Support Facility, featured one completed and three on-going extension activities from CAS.

The completed extension activity presented was from the Department of Languages and Literature entitled Project Virtual English Language Educator. This initiative, led by Ma. Theresa L. Eustaquio, PhD, was particularly noteworthy because it was conducted in collaboration with the US Department of State.

The project demonstrated a strong commitment to expanding access to English language education through virtual platforms. It promoted regional cooperation by actively being participated in by different English language educators across the region, successfully leveraging international partnership to enhance the professional development and teaching capabilities of educators in the area.

The three on-going extension activities are from the Social Sciences Department, the Department of Communication and Media Studies, and the Chemistry Department.

The CAS completed project was reviewed alongside other cluster initiatives by a panel of evaluators, underscoring the college's significant contribution to ISU’s community extension mandate.

The shoot took place at the ISU-IPTBM, bringing together academic collaboration and national service advocacy.

Special guests joined the production, led by Colonel Mike Aquino and Master Sergeant Gerald Aragon, who shared their expertise, stories of service, and valuable insights that will inspire youth and communities to embrace discipline, leadership, and readiness through the reservist program.

The CAMP Astig Project is envisioned to be a platform to strengthen public awareness on community defense, resilience, and the importance of the reserve force, aligning with national calls for preparedness and civic duty.

The DCMS-MCS production team, together with the Community Defense Center, worked hand-in-hand to ensure that the episodes capture the spirit of service, patriotism, and community empowerment.

Stay tuned for the upcoming release of the CAMP Astig episodesβ€”another milestone for DCMS-MCS in producing meaningful content that bridges education, civic consciousness, and nation-building.

CAS Extension and Training Services Spearhead Capacity-Building Workshop

In a significant move to strengthen its community engagement initiatives, the College of Arts and Sciences through its Extension and Training Services, successfully spearheaded a capacity-building workshop on August 20, 2025. Titled "Strengthening Extension Projects: A Capacity-Building Workshop on Proposal Development, Presentation, and Evaluation," the program was held with the help and assistance of the Isabela State University Echague Campus Extension and Training Services.

All of the CAS departments were well-represented by a group of inspiring writers and faculty members dedicated to enhancing their extension work.

The morning program featured two speakers who provided foundational knowledge for the participants. Dr. Darios B. Alado, CCSCI Extension Coordinator, delivered a presentation on the "Background of Extension Works," followed by Prof. Irma T. Plata, DIT, Campus Extension Director, who discussed "The How's of Writing Extension Project Proposals."

The core of the workshop was a hands-on "Writeshop" session, where faculty participants actively worked on developing their project proposals. On their "Presentation of Output", representatives from all disciplines and programs had the opportunity to present their crafted proposals. This session not only allowed for sharing of ideas but also provided a platform for constructive feedback. Presenters were given valuable recommendations and suggestions aimed at the betterment of their proposals. This process of evaluation served as an encouragement, motivating the participants to further craft and present impactful extension activities in the future.

The successful ex*****on of this workshop highlights the College of Arts and Sciences’ proactive approach to enhancing its extension and training services, reinforcing its mission to deliver tangible benefits to the university and its community."
