UPV Peer Facilitators You are not alone. The UPV Peer Facilitators is a student-arm of GCSU of the OSA. UPV PF was formerly called UPV Junior Peer Conselors (UPV JPC).

The UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES VISAYAS PEER FACILITATORS (UPV PF) is a program of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) of the university. In this nature, the organization does not need to file for organizational recognition to OSA in order to be acknowledged as one of the duly approved organizations in the campus. The name was changed since the title Counselor is only applicable to the licensed professional practitioners like the Guidance Services Specialists (GSS) and Guidance Counselors. The organization interacts directly with the office of the OSA Director and of the GSS in carrying out its due roles, duties, and responsibilities. It was founded on the year 1992 by the GSS in order to enable and empower the students to extend and reach out to their peers in the university by providing guidance and assistance to the students closely related to the duties of the university GSS. The organization also holds office in the basement of the Cooperative Union Building (CUB) beside the office of the Anti-Sexual Harassment committee.

📣 We would like to tell you something! ☁️💚

You don't need to have the perfect words to support someone.

Sometimes, a listening ear, a little patience, and a judgment-free space can mean more than you realize.

For World Mental Health Day this October 10, we recognize the theme “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”

Let's listen to understand, respect each other's experiences, and turn what we hear into meaningful action. Mental health care and advocacy should include the voices of those whose lives are affected by them.

So, take a moment today. Check in on someone. Listen to their story. And remember to give yourself the same kindness you offer others. 💚

Happy World Mental Health Day!

Piffy says: "People start to HEAL the moment they feel HEARD." ☁️

💚 October is here, Iskolars and so is our celebration of Mental Health Month! 🌿

This year’s World Health Organization (WHO) theme reminds us of something truly powerful: "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change." 🗣️✨

The Office of Student Affairs in partnership with HRDO, GAD, UPV Validus Amicitia, and in collaboration with the UPV Peer Facilitators, honor your story, your journey, and your voice. We’ve put together a month full of safe spaces, uplifting activities, and honest conversations where real stories lead to real connection and positive change. No judgment, no pressure—just a community ready to listen, support, and grow together. 🤗

𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒆. 𝑫𝒓𝒐𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒂𝒈𝒆. 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓! 🧳

✨As the "BER" months roll in 🎄, let's rememBER: you don't have to carry the weight of the world—or a dorm/office/house full of extra clutter—on your shoulders! Sometimes the best way to level up your days is to leave a few things behind.

Say hello to ISKAalwan—your campus-wide community swap and declutter fest running all the way from September through December! 🌟The initiative fosters a strong culture of generosity, empathy, and mutual support across the campus community. By encouraging students, faculty, and staff to declutter their living and study spaces, ISKAalwan provides a meaningful platform to share gently used items, essential supplies, and unneeded belongings with students in need, thereby alleviating daily pressures and promoting collective well-being.

Whether your desk is overflowing or your wallet needs a break, this is your chance to trade the extra weight for good vibes and mutual support.

Here’s how to join the fun:
📦 Unload the extra: Pass along gently used clothes, extra school supplies, or essentials you no longer need.
🛍️ Scoop up what you need: Find helpful supplies, hidden treasures, and daily essentials—completely free!

Clear your space, lighten your mind, and help a student thrive! 𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝑼𝑩 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒓.

Brought to you by the Office of Student Affairs-Guidance and Counseling Services Unit (OSA-GCSU), in partnership with UPV Validus Amicitia, and in close collaboration with the UPV Peer Facilitators.

Changing the way we talk about su***de is where su***de prevention begins.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, with the theme “Changing the Narrative on Su***de” we are called to listen, understand, and create spaces where people can speak about their struggles without fear of being dismissed or judged. We are reminded that behind every su***de is a person whose experiences, circumstances, and struggles deserve to be understood.

Su***de is a public health concern, and prevention is a collective responsibility. It is not simply a personal tragedy—it is a concern that involves individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. This is why prevention cannot rest solely on the individual. It requires creating conditions where people can seek help, access appropriate support, and feel that their lives and experiences matter — a move that calls for systemic change. The World Health Organization calls for su***de prevention and mental health to be a priority in public policy, urging governments and institutions to take action (World Health Organization, 2026). We call for better mental health literacy, accessible and responsive mental health services, responsible communication about su***de and policies that address structural conditons that contribute to stress.

Changing the narrative also means changing what we do. Prevention means creating communities where people are valued, where distress is taken seriously, where help is accessible, and where no one is made to feel ashamed for seeking support.

Remembering those we lost is to affirm that their lives mattered. Their absence reminds us of the urgency to build communities where help is never out of reach, where people can be seen, supported, and cared for before they reach a point of crisis.

Building connections, one team at a time. 🤝

On 29 August 2026, the UPV Peer Facilitators joined the NSTP–GCSU Personal Effectiveness Program in facilitating a team-building activity for UPV's first-year students at the Covered Court.

Across 26 NSTP groups, students took part in activities designed to strengthen communication, cooperation, trust, and teamwork—while giving them the chance to meet, connect, and grow alongside their fellow peers.

For our Peer Facilitators, it was more than simply guiding activities. It was an opportunity to create meaningful spaces for students to participate, connect with one another, and discover the strength of working together.

Here’s to more experiences that bring our peers closer and empower them to become active, supportive, and engaged members of the UPV community. 🌱

Finding their footing, one step at a time. 🌱

The UPV Office of Student Affairs – Guidance and Counseling Services Unit held ISKOpe: College Transition Program for UPV Dormers on August 26, 2026, at Balay Kanlaon and Balay Miagos, welcoming incoming first-year students to their new home in UP Visayas.

A combination of “Isko” and “Cope,” ISKOpe aims to help first-year dormers navigate the challenges of college and living away from home. Through interactive activities, practical discussions, and focus group conversations, participants explored dorm life, adjustment, building connections, and finding sources of support within the university community.

As our freshies begin this new chapter, may they remember that adjustment is a process—and they never have to face it alone. 💙❤️💚
Welcome to UP Visayas, Iskos! Padayon! 🌻
