The organization aims to initiate and carry out projects that benefit the student body and community for various causes through art.

The West Visayas State University - Artist Guild (WVSU Artist Guild) gathers the university’s experienced and aspiring artists in media, performing, literary, and visual arts. Furthermore, it shall foster the camaraderie for fellow creatives and support each other in their artistic pursuits.

There's a melody being carried by the wind, a song of passion and art; On the ground, there's a gentle rhythm—vibrations from the dance of performers; And all around you, vast colors and shapes of paint and graphite decorate your vast surroundings—today is the day of artists.

As this new digital age arises and new technologies threaten the very meaning of art, today we are reminded that art is not defined by a few prompts generated by a computer but creative works crafted by human hands, sung by human voices, manipulated with human fingers, and performed by human talent.

No matter how this new digital age labels us artists as replaceable, it cannot change the fact that art is human and it is us artists that give life to it.

Happy International Artist's Day!

During a warm Saturday afternoon, on the 10th of October, blank canvases were graced with the artistic hands of multiple volunteers W with each painting designed with the theme, “𝙋𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙: 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚.”

Thanks to the successful collaboration of our very own Artist Guild with the 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 on an on-the-spot traditional painting competition, we managed to spread awareness that mental health needs to be discussed and emphasized.

Every mind deserves a chance to express themselves, if not through speech, then through paper and colors.

Half a decade ago, West Visayas State University had experienced a sudden shift in the air—as if creativity rooted itself into the campus’ foundations and unleashed a spectrum of new possibilities.

It has been 5 years since the effort and ideas of three brilliant minds gave birth to our guild and ever since then, it has amassed numerous souls touched by art into a community of solidarity.

As we brave new waters and add more entries to our sketchbook, we shall continue a legacy of defining art as more than just pieces of paint and graphite on parchment but as a medium for souls to connect.
