Dr. Magno is an economist, civil servant, and professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman, widely recognized for her advocacy of transparency, accountability, and economic reform. As the commencement speaker for the Graduating Class of 2026, she delivered a message highlighting integrity, service, and responsible leadership.

๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ | CEFI Holds 51st Commencement Exercises for Class of 2026

A total of 513 graduates from 17 academic programs of Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI), including the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), received their degrees during the institution's 51st Commencement Exercises held at the Lucena City Convention Center on May 29.

This year's commencement guest speaker was Dr. Maria Cielo D. Magno, an economist, civil servant, and professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is also known for her advocacy for transparency, accountability, and economic reforms.

In her keynote address, she emphasized, "Use your intelligence not to manipulate but to enlighten. Use your profession not only to earn a living but to improve lives. Use your voice not to spread fear and division but to defend truth, accountability, and justice."

She also expressed her hope that the graduates would become leaders who are not only competent but courageous, not only successful but principled, and not only ambitiousโ€”emphasizing that there is nothing wrong with having ambitionsโ€”but also compassionate. She concluded her message by congratulating the Class of 2026 and encouraging them to lead with integrity, serve with humility, and live with courage.

Donalyn Mae C. Gulapa, a BS Psychology graduate and Magna Cum Laude awardee, was recognized as the Valedictorian of the Graduating Class of 2026. In her speech, she emphasized that success takes many forms and acknowledged the unique challenges students faced in achieving their goals.

Meanwhile, School President Atty. Deanna Maria Rachel S. Calayan led the awarding of degrees, diplomas, and recognitions to the graduates.

Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI) recognized its outstanding students for the Academic Year 2025โ€“2026 during the 4th Send-Off Rites held at the CEFI FORVM Gym on May 28.

The awardees were selected through a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, leadership, research involvement, character, and community engagement.

Arianne Joy O. Pionilla of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy secured the Most Outstanding CEFIzen Award, while Donalyn Mae C. Gulapa of BS Psychology was named Distinguished CEFIzen Awardee 2026.

Meanwhile, Kaela Rolaine H. Sasot of BS Nursing received a Special Citation for Research in recognition of her contribution and involvement in academic research.

The recognition underscored their outstanding contributions and dedication to the institutionโ€™s values as they move forward to the next chapter of their journeys beyond CEFI.

Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI) recognized the service and contributions of graduands and student organization members during the 4th Send-Off Rites held at the CEFI FORVM Gym on May 28.

The recognition highlighted the efforts of graduating student leaders and members who actively participated in campus activities, student leadership, and institutional programs throughout their stay in the institution.

Graduating members of The Calayan Dance Company, The Calayan Minstrels, The CEFIzen Gazette, The Calayan Cougars Varsity Team, and former officers of the Supreme College Student Council were honored for their dedication and service to CEFI.

Certificates and tokens of appreciation were awarded to the student leaders and organization members in recognition of their commitment, leadership, and active involvement in institutional and student-related activities.

Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI) formally sent off its graduating students through a Baccalaureate Mass and 4th Send-Off Rites filled with prayers, inspirational messages, and celebrations at the CEFI FORVM Gym on May 28.

The event highlighted the institutionโ€™s mission, identity, and heritage while honoring the graduatesโ€™ transition to a new chapter in their lives.

Carrying the theme โ€œAng Paghayo ng Cefizeno,โ€ the ceremony reminded graduands that they leave not only with academic credentials but also with the values and spirit of CEFI.

In his speech, Mr. Errol Torres, Officer-in-Charge of the Office for Student Affairs, expressed the institutionโ€™s pride and support for the graduating students as they move forward to face new opportunities and challenges outside the campus.

โ€œThis is our collective farewell as a school community [โ€ฆ] parang huling yakap ng institution bago kayo harapin ng totoong mundo sa labas nitong campus,โ€ Torres said.

Graduating students gathered for the Seniorsโ€™ Ball 2026 with the theme โ€œDiamonds of the Season: A Royal Soirรฉeโ€ to celebrate one of their final milestones before graduation at Queen Margarette Hotel on May 26.

Headed by Dr. Amelia Jarapa, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Education, the event brought together graduating students for an evening of celebration, reflection, and lasting memories.

As part of the celebration, John Rex Martinez (BSN) and Bea Jane Quirona (BSHM) were recognized for Best Royal-Inspired Attire, honoring their creativity, style, and interpretation of the eventโ€™s theme.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the awarding of Axel De Leon (BSBA-FM) and Joella Feamme Catolico (BSC) as Diamond of the Season, recognizing their beauty, creativity, and charm throughout the event.

De Leon said the Seniorsโ€™ Ball was a memorable way for graduating students to celebrate the end of their academic journey and express themselves through fashion, adding, โ€œThe Seniorsโ€™ Ball can really help us students showcase our creativityโ€ฆ and we can create more memories together because this is the last part of our journey as students.โ€

Meanwhile, Catolico emphasized that the Seniorsโ€™ Ball became a meaningful opportunity to celebrate achievements and cherish memorable moments before entering a new chapter after graduation.
