This June.19, 2026, we honor the life, legacy, and enduring contributions of Dr. Jose Rizal, our National Hero, whose profound love for education, patriotism, and pursuit of truth continue to inspire generations of Filipinos.

Rizal firmly believed that education is the foundation of a progressive nation and that the youth hold the power to shape the future. His timeless words, “𝘈𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘨-𝘢𝘴𝘢 𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯,” a reminder of the responsibility entrusted to us as students and future leaders.

As members of the academic community, we are called not only to excel in our studies but also to cultivate integrity, critical thinking, compassion, and a genuine commitment to serving others. In a rapidly changing world, Rizal's vision challenges us to use our knowledge and skills for the betterment of our communities and our nation.

On this special occasion, let us reflect on his sacrifices, learn from his courage, and continue his mission through our dedication to learning and leadership. May his legacy inspire us to dream bigger, work harder, and become catalysts for positive change.

Bilang mga estudyante, nawa'y patuloy nating yakapin ang kahalagahan ng edukasyon, pagmamahal sa bayan, at paglilingkod sa kapwa. Sa ating sama-samang pagsisikap, maipapakita natin na ang kabataan ng kasalukuyan ay tunay na karapat-dapat tawaging pag-asa ng bayan.

One hundred and twenty-eight years ago, our forebears fought to break the chains of oppression, paving the way for the sovereignty we hold today. But history is not just a collection of dates—it is a continuous call to action.

For the modern youth and student leaders, kalayaan takes on an evolved meaning. It is no longer just about the absence of colonizers, but the presence of justice, truth, and progress.

It is the freedom to speak up against injustices, the freedom to learn in safe and equitable spaces, and the unwavering audacity to advocate for transparent governance and accountable leadership.

As we celebrate the 128th Philippine Independence Day, we look back to honor the blood spilled for our flag, and we look forward to carrying the torch of freedom. Our education is our armor; our voice, our catalyst for change.

𝟭𝟮 𝗪𝗩𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗔𝗙 𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗖 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗢𝗖𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Twelve (12) cadet officers from Class PAGASPAS of the Philippine Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (PAF ROTC) Unit of West Visayas State University–Pototan Campus successfully completed the Cadet Officers Candidate Course (COCC) 2026 after undergoing five days of intensive in-house training from June 6 to 10, 2026, at West Visayas State University–Calinog Campus.

The rigorous training program was designed to develop the cadets’ leadership competencies, military discipline, physical endurance, and commitment to service. Throughout the course, the participants demonstrated exceptional resilience, teamwork, and determination as they faced various challenges that tested their character and preparedness for leadership roles.

The completion of the COCC marks a significant milestone in the cadets’ journey toward becoming effective and responsible leaders. Equipped with enhanced skills, knowledge, and values, the graduates are now better prepared to assume greater responsibilities within the ROTC program and serve as role models to their fellow cadets.

The achievement of Class PAGASPAS 2026 reflects their unwavering dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the core ideals of leadership, patriotism, and service. It likewise highlights the continuing efforts of the PAF ROTC program to develop young leaders capable of contributing positively to their communities and the nation.

The WVSU Pototan community proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to the 12 graduates of Class PAGASPAS 2026 with full support from the campus administration, Ssgt. Maria Christina A. Postrado, ROTC Coordinator, Ssgt. Adrian Taleon, NSTP Coordinator, and their parents/guardians..

As these cadets continue their leadership journey, they are encouraged to soar to greater heights, uphold the values of honor and integrity, and serve with pride as future leaders of the country. 🤷

As we launch the celebration of National No-Smoking Month, let us be reminded that choosing a smoke-free and vape-free lifestyle is an act of self-care. It safeguards not only our physical health but also strengthens our mental well-being, allowing us to stay focused, productive, and prepared to achieve our goals.

We proudly joined the celebration of National Environment Month, reminding us that caring for the environment starts with us. As students and youth leaders, we have an important role in protecting and nurturing the world around us—not only through words, but through simple actions we do every day.

Change begins within our campus community. By practicing sustainability, caring for nature, and supporting climate action, we can create a healthier and greener future for everyone.

West Visayas State University (WVSU) joins the nation in observing Judiciary Month 2026 and in celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

This year’s commemoration, themed “SC: 125 Years of Tradition and Innovation,” honors the enduring role of the judiciary in upholding the rule of law, protecting rights and liberties, and advancing justice in Philippine society.

As an institution committed to developing responsible citizens and future leaders, WVSU stands in solidarity with the Supreme Court in recognizing this historic milestone and its continuing pursuit of an accessible, responsive, and people-centered justice system.
