“Coconut waste can be turned to a plant-based protein milk alternative.

“A by-product often discarded during virgin coconut oil (VCO) production could become a valuable source of plant-based protein. This was what a research team from UP Diliman (UPD) uncovered when they looked for ways to turn coconut skim milk into a potential ingredient for more sustainable food products.”

“In its bid to have Fray Manuel Blanco’s Flora de Filipinas included in the national and international registers of the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme, the UP Diliman (UPD) Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA), in partnership with the UPD College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), UPD Department of History (DHist), Division VIII of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), and the UP Press, held the roundtable discussion (RTD) Flora de Filipinas: Science, Medicine, Heritage, and the Memory of Philippine Biodiversity at the Aldaba Recital Hall.”

“The Professional Engineering Training Division (PETD) of the National Engineering Center (NEC) recently concluded its exclusive training on ‘Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)’ for the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), held at Seminar Room B, Juinio Hall, UP Diliman. The program was completed by 21 participants from PhilSA’s five divisions and three bureaus, holding positions as project technical specialists, science research specialists, and information technology officers.”

Witness the “Palestinian Heritage Month: Musical Performance Series and Closing Ceremony” on Friday, Oct. 30, 2 p.m., at the GT-Toyota Auditorium, UP Diliman (UPD) Asian Center.

The concert will feature works of H.E. Mounir Y.K. Anastas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to the Republic of the Philippines.

It is organized by the UP System Office of International Linkages, in collaboration with the UPD College of Music.

To culminate the month-long celebration of Palestinian Heritage Month, the University of the Philippines and the Embassy of the State of Palestine present a special musical performance series bringing together vocal, instrumental, choral and orchestral traditions and cultural memory.

Featuring the compositions and works of His Excellency Ambassador Mounir Y.K. Anastas and works by Filipino, Japanese, and Western composers; performed by the students, faculty and alumni of the College of Music, this closing concert explores music as an enduring expression of human dignity, hope, and cultural preservation. Through artistic resonance, the performance echoes the resilience of a people whose heritage continues to thrive despite deep historical trial and displacement.

Serving as the formal synthesis of the month-long series, the program honors the shared commitment of the university community to academic freedom, human rights, and international solidarity.

Organized by the Office of International Linkages, in collaboration with the UP College of Music.
