We carry above ground concrete shelters, underground fiberglass storm shelters and
the Everest saferooms, which we manufacture in Alexander City, AL. Established in 2010, Lake Martin Storm Shelters manufactures the Everest line of steel saferooms and represents several lines of concrete above-ground shelters plus the Refuge fiberglass underground shelters. Every shelter we sell meets current FEMA
320/361 guidelines and has been thoroughly tested. Our Everest saferooms are listed and labeled through ICC-ES making them fully ICC-500 compliant! We are current members of the ATSA (American Tornado Shelter Association), The Better Business Bureau and an Alabama Licensed and insured contractor with city licenses across the state. We service all of Alabama, the Florida panhandle, western Georgia and eastern Mississippi (limited to central Alabama for the Refuge underground shelters). Our Everest saferooms are also available in surrounding states through our dealer network. Merry started Lake Martin Storm Shelters after she and her youngest daughter experienced a near miss from a tornado and their only option was to take cover in a bathtub. After an extensive search for a shelter took her out of state she decided there was a need for a local professional to assist other Alabama families in need of severe weather protection. Merry’s husband Steve spent eight years in the Navy flying as a Naval Flight Officer, the next 20 years in equipment sales for Caterpillar and was busy restoring classic wooden boats and canoes when he and Merry met. Now they operate Lake Martin Storm Shelters together as a family-owned business with a core group of dedicated employees all committed to quality and family safety. At Lake Martin Storm Shelters our number one goal is customer satisfaction, making sure you invest in what best fits your needs, not ours. Whether you are interested in above-ground, underground, in-home or backyard, we have an option to fill your needs. We understand that you take great pride in your home so we make sure your shelter is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing in your yard or home.
