🖼️It’s hard to believe that it’s officially closing day for “Here and Now: 100 Years of LUAG, 100 Local Artists”. Come visit before we close for the summer at 5:00pm today.
It has been an honor to feature 100 works that represent the extraordinary creative community in the Lehigh Valley. If you miss the chance to see it in person, you’ll be able to view a reproduction of 17 artworks (including this one!) along the South Bethlehem Greenway through July.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: In 1996, Charley Farrell suspended his architectural career of thirty years, sold his architectural firm, and returned to school to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting. After graduation, he worked for two years as a Resident Affiliate Artist at the Tryon Center for Visual Arts and was represented by the Hodges Taylor Gallery, both located in Charlotte, North Carolina. His work received an award in a juried exhibition in the Art of the State of Pennsylvania. Several of his paintings were accepted by the North Carolina Museum of Art in a juried show of North Carolina Artists.
In 2001, in support of his wife’s decision to teach at Lehigh University, he relocated in Berks County, continuing to develop his interest in Architecture and Art. Fifteen years ago, he began writing music, and performs with his wife, Amy Forsyth, as a Singer/Songwriter at local venues.
In 2014, he retired from architectural practice to focus on painting and music. He has exhibited his paintings at the Freyberger Gallery, Penn State Berks, The Goggleworks in Reading, PA, and Studio B, in Boyertown, PA. He has won numerous awards, including First Prize for the Art of Jazz, Berks Arts Council Juried Exhibition, the Grand Prize for the Goggleworks 11th Annual Juried Exhibition. He had a solo exhibition in 2018 at the Goggleworks Center for the Arts. His artwork has been exhibited in New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
