Many thanks to the music faculty for a mid-day concert featuring Phil Lake, Leo Medler, Geoff Smith, Ines Draskovic, Esther Rogers, Dylon Walbridge and James McGowan. The next event is Jazz Cafe on Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. in Stage 14. Faculty, students and the community are welcome.

Dinner at Julia is often sold out, but there is some room this Friday (Oct. 30) and the final night (Nov. 13) to enjoy dinner made by culinary arts students. This Friday's entree choices are stuffed chicken breast with mushroom and broccolini risotto, steak Diane in a peppercorn and brandy cream sauce with potatoes and baby green beans, and a mushroom risotto. Dinner is $50 per person for a multi-course meal with seatings at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Reservations are required. Email [email protected] or call (585) 785-1476.

Yesterday, Oct. 22, members of the FLCC campus community wore purple in observance of Purple Thursday, a nationally recognized day during Domestic Violence Awareness Month honoring victims and supporting survivors of domestic violence.

The Center for Student Well-Being also partnered with Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes and Finger Lakes Community Health to raise awareness and share resources. 🎗️💜

The Engineering Science and Technology Alumni Evening brought together 43 alumni, students, faculty and staff, both in person and virtually on Oct. 21. Four Engineering Science alumni shared insights on their careers and specialized engineering fields, offering current students valuable advice and a look at the many opportunities ahead.

With alumni representing graduating classes from 1991 to 2025, the evening was a wonderful reminder of the lasting connections within our FLCC community. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success!

FLCC awarded local scholarships to 171 students for the 2026-27 academic year. Many recipients gathered for a dinner on Oct. 15 to meet donors who fund the awards and share stories about educational goals and journeys. Local businesses, organizations and families have created more than 100 scholarships to support FLCC students in a wide range of majors.

Fifth-grade students from Seneca Falls visited FLCC today to learn about college and careers and the education level necessary for certain types of careers. They visited studio and lab spaces on campus, including the Science Incubator where they experienced the Anatomage table, a life-size touch screen that nursing and health science students use to study anatomy.

FLCC’s next Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) training course starts Nov. 16 at the Geneva Campus Center. Classes run M-F 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 17. CNA is a first stop on a health care career pathway. Students who complete the CNA program will receive three college credits that can be applied to the health care studies degree program. Faculty and students who participated in study abroad experiences in Sicily and South Africa capped Laker Day with a public presentation at Wood Library. 🌎

John Bateman and Maura Sullivan, who led the South Africa trip, shared a story of finding themselves surrounded by cape buffalo in their jeep in a wildlife refuge.

Student Angela MacAllister of Naples was so moved by her experience she had the outline of Sicily tattooed on her leg. “There wasn’t a day that went by I didn’t thank the universe for letting me be there,” she said.
