Exploring the History and Cultural Impact of Irish Sport 🇮🇪

From local playing fields to the Olympic stage, sport has played a powerful role in shaping Ireland’s history, identity, and connections around the world.

In celebration of the forthcoming Atlas of Irish Sport, to be published by Cork University Press in 2027, Boston College Irish Studies will host a special roundtable exploring the stories behind this landmark publication and the enduring influence of sport on Irish society and its global diaspora.

More than 25 years after the Good Friday Agreement, Northern Ireland continues to face complex political and social challenges. Recent tensions surrounding Drumcree have renewed questions about policing, power-sharing, community relations, and the prospects for lasting reconciliation.
