"Gamma Phi Beta is one of the ten oldest women's organizations in the United States. Adeline Curtis, and Mary A. Bingham founded Gamma Phi Beta on November 11, 1874 at Syracuse University. These young women enlisted the help of Dr. E.O. Haven, Frances' father and Syracuse University's chancellor, as they fought to establish a group solely for women on the male dominated Syracuse campus. These four

women started an organization that encourages women to seek their full potential as well as everlasting friendships. Our founders believed in hard work, dedication, and loyalty to each of our sisters. After its installment, Dr. Frank Smalley, a professor at the university, coined the word "sorority" especially for Gamma Phi Beta. Thanks to the efforts of Helen M. Dodge, Francis E. Bingham, Gamma Phi Beta now has an international membership of over 200,000 members, with 181 collegiate chapters and 175 alumnae groups across the United States and Canada. Gamma Phi Beta's primary objective is to inspire the highest type of womanhood."

Hear from Claire Winter, PC’23, about her study abroad experience!

“I am in my last few weeks in Cork, Ireland before I head off to a Clemson summer program in the Balkans peninsula! It has been a swirling fun of busy days, traditional music, Irish step dancing, and sheep loving. Along with other Clemson sorority sisters from Gphi and DG, we have traveled to England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands. My favorite memory so far was when we hiked up to the hill that ‘Sound of Music’ was filmed on and proceeded to dance around to the soundtrack. I’m excited to keep exploring Europe with Clemson this summer and excited to see my sorority sisters in the fall!!”

Wrapping up our senior week, read our !

Dear Julianne, words cannot describe what a blessing it is to call you a friend, well more like a best friend. You have made my Clemson experience so extra special and I will forever cherish all of the fun memories we have made together! When I was a scared little freshman who knew barely anyone, You, Victoria, and Sammy made me feel included and showed me what true friendship looks like, and that is something I will always be grateful for. As sad as I am to see you leave, I am also incredibly proud of you and know you will go and do so many amazing things!! Forever spanish, cycle, and photo buddy!! Keep being your funny and loving self! I am going to miss all the laughs! You are truly the best!!

Dear Lizzie,
To know you is to love you! From bid day buddies, to big little, to being pi chis together, you’ve helped make Clemson feel like home! We’ve shared so many fun memories together over the years, and although I’m super proud of you for graduating, I’m also sad to see you leave! You were so kind and welcoming when I was a scared little freshman, coming to Clemson without knowing anyone, and you helped me find my place here! It’s been an honor being your little (she gets it from her mama, iykyk), and Clemson won’t be the same without you!
