THE BROTHERHOOD WE ONCE KNEW
Way back then, there was no Facebook, no Messenger, and no social media to keep us connected. Yet, somehow, our communication was just as strong, if not stronger, than it is today. We didn't need group chats, event invitations, or online announcements to know where our brothers were gathering. Somehow, the news reached us, and we knew where to go.
Even without an invitation, you knew you belonged. And when you finally met your brothers, it wasn't just a handshake; it was a GRIP THAT CARRIED THE STRENGTH OF BROTHERHOOD, a warmth that made you feel the sincerity of the person standing before you. You could feel the truth in their smiles, the honesty in their eyes, and the genuine spirit of brotherhood that needed no explanation.
And that WHISTLE! The moment you heard it, your head would turn so quickly, almost as if your neck couldn't keep up, searching for the familiar face behind that unmistakable sound. It was more than a whistle; it was a call that instantly connected brothers, a sound that carried memories, friendship, and a bond that words could never fully explain.
Then came the voices shouting “STRONG THE CIRCLE!” and “MAY WE ALWAYS BE!” and Those words weren't merely shouted for everyone to hear. They were felt deep within the heart. The moment you heard them, the hairs on your skin would stand, because you knew you were standing among brothers who carried the same spirit, the same values, and the same love for the fraternity.
THAT WAS APO. No likes, no shares, no reactions, and no need to prove anything on social media. Brotherhood was never measured by how often your name appeared in a post, how many events you attended for the photographs, or how visible you were to the world.
It was measured by the connection you felt, the sincerity of every handshake, the joy of seeing a brother after a long time, and the unspoken understanding that NO MATTER HOW FAR LIFE TOOK US, WE WOULD ALWAYS FIND OUR WAY BACK TO EACH OTHER.
Perhaps times have changed, and technology has made communication easier. But somewhere along the way, we must never allow the simplicity of the old days to disappear. Let us bring back the brotherhood that did not depend on invitations, the friendship that did not choose who deserved to belong, and the spirit of service that did not need an audience.
Because at the end of the day, APO IS NOT JUST ABOUT WEARING THE LETTERS. IT IS ABOUT CARRYING THE SPIRIT.
May we never lose that genuine connection. May we never forget the feeling of being home whenever we are among our brothers. And may the whistle, the handshake, the shout, and the bond that once brought us together continue to remind us of who we are and why we became part of this great fraternity.
STRONG THE CIRCLE WE!
MAY WE ALWAYS BE! 💙💛
