Devin Riggs, Student Employee of the Year Finalist
Join us in celebrating Devin Riggs, an outstanding nominee whose academic excellence, leadership, and dedication make a lasting impact at the University of North Alabama!

Devin graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2025, earning consistent recognition on both the President’s List and Dean’s List while also receiving multiple prestigious scholarships and honors. His commitment to excellence extends into their role as a student worker in the Department of Psychology & Sociology, where they have been recognized for their exceptional contributions.
As a Lead Research Assistant in the AIR (Authenticity, Identity, and Resentment) Research Lab since 2022, Devin has demonstrated a passion for research and innovation. Their work earned them a Research Travel Grant to attend the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association an impressive achievement that highlights their academic impact.

Devin’s leadership across campus is equally remarkable. Serving as Vice President of the UNA Psychology Club and the National Society of Leadership & Success, as well as Treasurer of the Psychology Club, they have organized events, mentored peers, and fostered meaningful engagement within the campus community.
Devin’s friendly, approachable nature makes him a go to resource for students seeking guidance, tutoring, and support. He is an invaluable partner to faculty, providing seamless coordination for research, classes, meetings, and even managing lab spaces and schedules.

A natural leader, Devin consistently takes initiative bringing creativity and innovation to departmental projects, marketing campaigns, recruitment events, and student research efforts. His work not only supports faculty and staff but also connects students with meaningful opportunities, fostering a more engaged and accessible academic community.

With an outstanding academic record (4.0 GPA in his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and 3.97 GPA in Psychology), and leadership roles across multiple organizations, Devin’s impact is truly remarkable.

As Devin shares: “My time working as the Psychology Departmental Assistant… has been one of the most meaningful and formative experiences of my academic career… shaping my professional identity, strengthening my skill set, and deepening my appreciation for the field.” We’re proud to recognize Devin’s dedication and lasting contributions!
