Last night, the Cunanan Center for Professional Success brought professionals and ECU College of Business students together for an evening of networking, conversation, and career connections. 🤝

Students had the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, practice proactive networking, strengthen their communication skills, and engage directly with professionals from the industry. Because building a professional network isn't just about who you know; it's about making meaningful connections and knowing how to start the conversation!

A big thank-you to the professionals who took the time to connect with our Pirates and share their experiences!

Intern of the Week: Ava Dutiel! ✈️✈️🌟

From Charlotte to Dallas, Florida, and San Diego, Ava Dutiel is building connections and finding her place in the risk management and insurance industry!

A Risk Management and Insurance student, Ava interned with Wholesure from June through August 2026 and earned a part-time return offer with the company’s Healthcare Professional Lines team through May 2027.

Her experience also took her to the WSIA Marketplace in San Diego, where she and fellow RMI student Josiah Stuckey were among just seven summer interns selected for the WSIA Exploration track to attend the conference in California!

💬💬 “I entered eager to learn, but left confident that I belong.”

Congratulations, Ava!

A night worth celebrating! 🏴‍☠️

Last night, the ECU College of Business celebrated its newest inductees into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society recognizing outstanding academic achievement among business students.

This is a well-deserved honor for students who have worked to reach this milestone, and we’re proud to celebrate all they’ve accomplished. The evening was even more special as Dean Michael Harris was inducted, too!

Congratulations to our newest members! Your dedication and achievements make the Pirate community proud. 💜💛

Employer in the Foyer! Pirates are hiring Pirates. 💼🏴‍☠️

Today’s Employer in the Foyer brought together three accounting firms and ECU alumni, all back on campus to connect with the next generation of Pirates!

We welcomed Forvis Mazars, Langdon & Company, and Hall CPA, giving COB students the chance to learn more about the firms, ask questions, and explore potential career opportunities directly with professionals who once stood in their shoes.

There’s something special about seeing ECU graduates return to share their experience and help current students take their next steps. It’s a reminder that the Pirate network doesn’t end at graduation!

The Blueprint to Success Panel 🧩🧩🧩

This panel brought our Pirates together with leaders who shared not only their experiences, but also the lessons, advice, and wisdom they’ve gained along the way. Mr. Kel Normann and Dr. Jim Westmoreland reminded students that everyone’s path to success looks a little different, and there is so much to learn from the people willing to share their journey.

A heartfelt thank-you to Mr. Normann, Dr. Westmoreland, and Amber Willits of Oracle for spending time with our students and making these connections possible.

Thank you to CEO for creating space for these meaningful conversations and opportunities for our Pirates! 🏴‍☠️🤝

Yesterday was a great day to be a COB Pirate! ☠️☠️☠️

ECU College of Business students had the opportunity to learn from some incredible leaders at the Business Leadership Conference!

With powerful ECU alumni sharing their experiences, lessons, and insights, the day was filled with meaningful conversations and reminders of what it takes to lead with purpose.

A highlight of the conference was hearing from keynote speaker Steve Cunanan, namesake of the Cunanan Center for Professional Success, whose commitment to student success continues to make an impact on our Pirates.

A big thank-you to everyone who made this experience possible and to the leaders who took the time to invest in the next generation of business professionals! The future is in good hands with Pirates like these. 💛
