Last night, Pierce College proudly stood among the region’s leaders at The Valley Economic Alliance 30th Anniversary — Valley of the Stars Awards Gala.

Our presence wasn’t just symbolic — it’s how we keep Pierce College initiatives front and center for our students, staff, and the broader community.

Big thanks to Foundation members Sunday Tsai and Ryan Taylor for representing the Pierce College Foundation, and to our very own President Aracely Aguiar for her leadership.

Together, we’re building a stronger future for the Valley — one student at a time.

Good news today! While we have received millions of dollars of grant money including Annenberg and Amgen, as the Chair of the Foundation, I'm new to writing grants. I will be receiving my first grant for the Foundation and really for the students of Pierce College. It was a very, very short application. I still am learning how to write grants. But this one was perfect. It's to get students to register other students to vote, and then after the registration date, to help teach students about absentee voting, how to find your polling booth, etc. It's a $10,000 grant that will fund five students. I will purchase gift certificates for the students, we will also be allowed to use it for October 19th Day of Politics and provide food to attract more students to our all day fun-filled political event and much more. The Foundation for Pierce College will manage the grant as well. I'll be looking for five dedicated, politically minded students next week. - Denise Robb
