The pursuit of the perfect sandwich begins next week in Lynn Nottage’s Clyde’s.

At Clyde’s truck stop diner, the formerly incarcerated kitchen staff are looking for a shot at redemption. Under the oppressive thumb of the shop’s callous owner, they find unexpected purpose and solidarity in a shared obsession: creating the perfect sandwich.

Sharp, funny and deeply human, Clyde’s is a celebration of resilience, community and second chances.

Next up at the Bing Theatre: The Drowsy Chaperone.

When a die-hard musical theatre fan plays their favorite cast recording, the characters leap off the vinyl and into the living room. A bride and groom on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs and one gloriously intoxicated chaperone collide in this hilarious musical farce. Featuring the BFA in Musical Theatre Class of 2027, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving celebration of everything we adore about musicals.

“The work is the joy.”

Academy Award-winning actor and Emmy Award-winning producer Nicole Kidman joined Dean Emily Roxworthy at USC’s Bing Theatre for a special Spotlight@SDA event with USC School of Dramatic Arts students.

During a candid conversation about craft, collaboration and sustaining an artistic life, Kidman encouraged students to show up prepared, remain open to discovery, protect their well-being and hold on to their sense of play.

Her advice was direct: “Don’t be late. Be on time. Know your words. Know what you’re doing, and show up fully prepared.”

Performances begin next week for Kenneth Lonergan’s This Is Our Youth

Set on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 1982, this play follows three college-age friends through 48 turbulent hours as they struggle to find their footing on the brink of adulthood.

By turns hilarious, heartbreaking and deeply compassionate, the play captures the confusion, longing and possibility of being young when everything seems within reach and nothing goes according to plan.

Next up in our 2026–27 season: John Gay’s "The Beggar’s Opera."

The charming highwayman Macheath finds himself caught between the two women who love him... and their fathers, who would rather see him dead.

Set to the street songs of the day, this wickedly funny tale combines razor-sharp wit with a cast of gloriously disreputable thieves, con artists and corrupt officials. The work that inspired Brecht and Weill’s "The Threepenny Opera," "The Beggar’s Opera" proves that the powerful and the criminal have always had more in common than either would like to admit.
