: Hi! My name is Alex Lanting, and I'm a senior Film major concentrating on writing, directing, and location sound! I'm a development intern at True North, which mostly consists of script coverage, pitching at meetings, and creating grids for films on our slate.

I've been doing a little bit of everything: checking out LA's comedy scene, food scene, music scene, beach scene... After SiLA, I'm headed back to Michigan to work freelance in location sound, write a feature, and continue postproduction on two short films (including one I'm shooting in LA!). But this won't be the last LA sees of me..."

Stay tuned for more !!

Hollywood has plenty of people willing to tell you who to be. Willam Belli reminded our students that the real challenge, and perhaps the greatest reward, is discovering who you already are.

From the classroom to the Sony Pictures backlot! President Shantay Bolton and SiLA Program Director Kevin Cooper had lunch with alumni building exciting careers at one of Hollywood’s most iconic studios. What a great reminder of where a Columbia education can take you! Warner Bros., you’re next!

Great to have President Shantay Bolton and Interim Provost Suzanne McBride connect with our SiLA faculty! These talented industry professionals bring their real-world entertainment industry experience and inspiration directly into our classrooms!
