What I actually eat in a day studying abroad in France🇫🇷 Fresh baguettes, cappuccinos every morning, and 2-hour lunch breaks where I soak in the Parisian lifestyle. This has definitely been one of my favorite parts of the FIU Honors France program. It's simple yet somehow still better than anything I was eating back home 🥖☕

Meet Adrian Mangano, a junior in the FIU Honors College whose experiences span public service, technology, student leadership and community engagement.

Adrian is double majoring in Business Analytics & Artificial Intelligence and Finance and is an Honors College Hamilton Scholar currently interning in the Washington, D.C., office of Congressman Jared Moskowitz. During his internship, he has developed spreadsheet projects, led tours throughout the nation’s capital and assisted with constituent concerns. The experience has also given him a closer look at the work behind the scenes of congressional offices, including constituent services and staff research. At FIU, Adrian manages the Extreme Storm Simulator project and has held several leadership roles. He previously served as Chief of Staff to the Vice President of the Student Government Association and founded and led the university’s Toastmasters chapter. His contributions to campus earned him the Sophomore Student Leader of the Year award from the Division of Student Affairs.

Adrian’s commitment to community involvement began before college. He co-founded Skate Raleigh, a nonprofit organization that helped bring a public skatepark to Raleigh, North Carolina. An avid world traveler, he also spent this past summer in Nepal through an FIU Honors College study abroad program, continuing to explore new cultures and broaden his global perspective.

Adrian continues to build on his interests in technology, leadership and public service while making the most of his opportunities available through the Honors College. 💙🐾

Asking my classmates to advise next year's Nepal cohort by listing 3 must-pack items. Some items are predictable, and some you might not expect! Full list of recommended items in the end.

One of the most unexpected moments from our time in Akan: teaching salsa and ending up with everyone dancing together 🇨🇺🇯🇵💃

A quick lesson turned into a cultural exchange we’ll never forget.
