FIU engineering students are ready to take flight! ✈️ As the only college team competing in Red Bull Flugtag Miami, our Panthers spent two months designing and building their very own flying machine. Catch them in action this Saturday, October 31, at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami!

Why might starting with medication backfire?

Behavior therapy works by giving kids repeated chances to practice self-regulation. Research from our Center for Children and Families suggests that medication, introduced too early, can smooth over the exact moments kids need in order to build those skills.

In a study of 248 children, those who started with behavior therapy and added medication later showed fewer disruptive behaviors once the medication stopped.🐾

A new study involving FIU researchers reveals the lasting impact of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill on marine life in the Gulf. More than 16 years later, deep-water fish, crustaceans and squid populations continue to decline, raising concerns about the long-term health of the ocean’s ecosystem.
