Earlier today the Nassau County PBA was honored to attend the street naming of our fallen hero Detective Charles C. Vroom. The corner of Armstrong Rd. and Washington Ave in Garden City Park will forever be named in his honor. Detective Vroom passed in the line of duty in 2021 due to complications from COVID-19 and was posthumously promoted to Detective.

Thank you to all who helped make this ceremony come together especially the Nassau County Police Department and everyone involved from the Town of North Hempstead. Also a special thank you to the Garden City Park FD for displaying the American flag from their trucks.

The Nassau County PBA and NCPD SOA were proud to recognize PO Brian Sujka and Sgt. Frederick Trifano at today’s Nassau County Legislature Meeting for their heroic lifesaving actions.

While off duty attending their children’s soccer game, both officers sprang into action when a referee suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. Their quick thinking, training, and decisive actions, alongside responding EMT’s, helped save a man’s life.

Their actions are a powerful reminder that the uniform may come off at the end of a shift, but the commitment to protecting lives never does.

Congratulations to both officers on this well deserved recognition!
