Adult and Youth Beef Quality Assurance

Animal Handling Safety

Join the Knox County Cattlemen Association and the Ohio State
University Beef Team for a hands-on clinic dedicated to low-stress
handling and equipment safety. Presenters include: Dr. Stephen
Boyles, Emeriti Professor with Ohio State University, John Yost, ANR
Educator in Wayne County and Janessa Hill, ANR Educator in Holmes
County.

Working cattle shouldn't be a battle of wills. Whether you are a
seasoned producer or new, this workshop focuses on the techniques
and tools that keep both the livestock calm and the handlers out of
harm's way.

The workshop will begin with 50 minutes of classroom instruction.
Followed by individually traveling to a local producers handling
facility to view a live handling demonstration and utilization of a bud
box. Both portions are necessary to earn quality assurance credit.

Attending this session will allow you to obtain the Ohio Beef Quality
Assurance certificate or renew your existing certificate. Certificates
are good for three years.

Youth attending must be from Knox County and showing cattle for the 2026 enrollment year.
