UP Nurses Make a Difference The School of Nursing has a long and proud history as the first professional school at the University of Portland.

Our school was established in 1934 from the highly regarded St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. Today, we continue to fulfill our mission to prepare baccalaureate, master’s and doctorate graduates as successful professional nurse leaders and difference makers. Our graduates are ready to meet the health care needs of a diverse and changing society.

Talking Points is a LifeWorks NW series featuring leaders and community partners discussing mental health, addiction and prevention issues in our region.

This session will explore how collaborative models bring together psychiatric mental health nurse practioners, psychologists, mental health therapists, peer support specialists, and other professionals to expland access to care. Dean Moceri, will be one of the panelists and will discuss how this approach works and how it may shape the future of psychiatric care in Oregon and beyond.

We are continuing to offer sound baths this fall on the following dates in Franz 120 (no registration needed)
Monday, October 5 > 11:00 am to 11:15 am
Monday, November 2 > 11:00 to 11:15 am

You are warmly invited to take 15 minutes out of the day for a peaceful pause. You will be guided through a restorative sound bath featuring crystal singing bowls. Come as you are! Find a comfortable seat, settle in, and allow the gentle tones and vibrations of the bowls to create space for rest, reflection and renewal.

What is a sound bath? It is a meditative listening experience in which resonant tones and vibrations create an environment that may support relaxation and present- moment awareness. Emerging research on singing-bowl mediation suggests potential benefits including: reduced feelings of stress and tension, decreased anxiety and negative mood, increased feelings of relaxation and well-being and physiological changes including changes in heart rate. 💜

Cost: $90 plus book ($28.35 for eBook or $31.50 for hard copy book to be picked up at beginning of class) Pay at the time of sign up.
