All University of Portland students are warmly invited to take 15 minutes out of the day for a peaceful pause.
You will be guided through a restorative sound bath featuring crystal singing bowls. Find a comfortable seat, settle in, and allow the gentle tones and vibrations of the bowls to create space for rest, reflection, and renewal.
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a meditative listening experience in which resonant tones and vibrations create an environment that may support relaxation and present-moment awareness. There is nothing you need to “do,” and no prior experience is necessary—simply listen, breathe, and be present.
Emerging research on singing-bowl meditation suggests potential benefits including:
Reduced feelings of stress and tension
Decreased anxiety and negative mood
Increased feelings of relaxation and well-being
Potential physiological changes associated with relaxation, including changes in heart rate and heart-rate variability
Whether you are heading to class, studying, or simply navigating a busy week, even a brief intentional pause can offer an opportunity to shift from doing to being.
Come as you are. No preparation needed.
Join fellow University of Portland students for 15 minutes of sound, stillness, and restoration.
Brought to you by the School of Nursing & Health Innovations Professional Development & Well-Being Committee.
