The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) facilitates and supports undergraduate student engagement in research and scholarly activities.

The Office of Undergraduate Research provides support for undergraduate scholarly activities across all disciplines at the University. OUR offers two types of awards: Student Project Awards and Travel Awards. These awards are intended to foster research partnerships between faculty and UWF’s most promising undergraduate students. Starting Fall 2015, OUR will be initiating the Student Scholars program. The Scholars program aims to aid students in professional development and educate ways to properly communicate research or research experience.

Attention all UWF undergraduates! Are you ready to gain hands-on experience by working with research mentors on projects tailored to your interests? Apply for the OUR Explorers Program! Applications are open now for Spring 2027.
Due to recent weather impacts and campus closure, we have extended the Deadline to November 2, 2026.

The Explorers Program is designed to spark interest in research and creative activities among undergraduate students with little to no prior research experience. Preference will be given to first- and second-year students. Current undergraduate, degree-seeking students in good academic standing with the University are eligible to apply.

As an OUR Explorer, students can expect to:
- Gain hands-on research experience
- Shadow multiple faculty members aligned with your degree and career goals
- Participate in professional development workshops tailored to first-time researchers
- Discover your passion within your field of study
-Explore various research groups to find your area of interest

Attention Researchers! Are you working on a scholarly or creative project you would like to share with the community? Seeking professional development and networking opportunities? Great news! The Pensacola State College (PSC) Annual Student Research and Creative Showcase is currently calling for presenters! Sessions will include oral, group, and poster presentations, a visual art exhibit, an engineering showcase, and much more.

UWF students, of any major, interested in presenting their research are encouraged to apply. Students interested in presenting should email OUR at [email protected] for more information.

Need support in your research? The Office of Undergraduate Research offers the OUR Project Awards Program for Undergraduate students doing research. Individuals can get support up to $500, and groups can get up to $750. These funds can be used for project materials, travel, and expenses. Cycle 2 deadline is November 9, 2026, so apply now!

OUR Project Awards: Funding for Undergraduate Research Cycle 2 OPEN NOW! Students working on individual projects can apply for up to $500. Students working on group projects can apply for up to $750 for expenses like chemicals, lab equipment, art supplies, travel to field sites, and more. To be eligible, you must be mentored by a UWF faculty member.
