Each year, the Ohio League for Nursing and Cleveland Magazine honor outstanding nurses in Northeast Ohio with the Faces of Care awards. Faces of Care honors not only nurses working on the frontlines but also the next generation who will join their ranks and the educators who have mentored them along the way.

Please join us in congratulating Nathaly Mendez, BSN, '26 on her selection as a Next Generation honoree. 🏹🩺

Nathaly Mendez graduated this May from Ursuline College’s BSN program and is a driven caregiver and advocate for her patients and fellow nursing students. Through the Howley ASPIRE Nurse Scholars program, she built strong roots within Cleveland Clinic, working as a PCNA and preparing to begin her career as an RN in medical-surgical telemetry at Fairview Hospital. Nathaly was active in Student Nurses of Ursuline College and the Dean’s Student Advisory Council and has contributed to national conversations on nursing education through the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

Congratulations to Dr. Valentino Zullo on receiving an honorable mention for the Gilbert Seldes Prize for Public Scholarship from the Comics Studies Society. The awards ceremony was hosted on June 12, 2026, at the The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. He received this honor for his article, “Graphic Memoirs of Childhood,” co-authored with Vera Camden and published in The American Psychoanalyst - TAP.

Last night, Ursuline's Counseling and Art Therapy program celebrated Katherine Jackson on the release of her book, "Service-Learning through Cultural Exchange and Expressive Arts Therapy." Experience the powerful work curated by Wasmer Gallery Director, Anna Arnold, who states, "The trailblazing artists here, some of Northeast Ohio’s most masterful, are not illustrating history. They are working inside it, drawing from art history and lived experience to depict what hope is asking of us now.
