Happy Filipino American History Month! Recent alum, Marco, completed his residency at KIPP SoCal Teacher Residency and graduated this past June. He is now in his first year of teaching and thriving as a sixth-grade English & Social Studies Teacher.

In the residency, residents and mentor teachers are partnered together during Alder GSE’s year-long program, teaching and learning together, just like this resident and mentor pair, Kassy and Andrea!

Resident Vanessa is knocking it out of the park during her second Takeover Day at Da Vinci Communications. Alder alum and mentor Estrella stopped by and saw that everyone was focused, asking questions, and doing what they came there to do - learn!

Alder GSE residents follow a gradual release of responsibility model, in which they take on increasing leadership in the classroom. They get the chance to build their skills and confidence while always surrounded by support and community. Applications are open for next year's cohort, so consider starting one today!

The free application requires an updated resume, two short personal statements, and your location and subject preferences. We encourage applicants to apply as early as possible, as all subjects and residency openings operate on a rolling-until-full basis.

Our residents recently completed their summer term. Summer is an immersive, full-time experience where residents dive into coursework and get to know one another as a cohort. At Alder GSE, residents build an important foundation of coursework, including ED 200: Identity and Teaching and ED 200: SPED Foundations of Inclusive Education, to set residents up for success throughout their residency year and beyond.
