A little starstruck? Absolutely!

It was a pinch-me moment to meet and chat with two extraordinary women who have helped shape Philadelphia’s design and hospitality world.

At a recent NEWH event, we celebrated Marguerite Rodgers interior design as one of 2026’s top ID honorees, recognizing its beautiful work on High Street, one of Eileen Yin’s celebrated restaurants.

Meg Rogers is a legend in Philadelphia’s design community, and Eileen Yin is a James Beard Award-winning restauranteur whose influence in our city’s dining scene is hard to overstate.

Two remarkable entrepreneurs, two incredible careers, two beautiful women, and a long-standing creative partnership.

Getting to spend a little time with both of them was such an honor. Some people you admire from afar, and then, every once in a while, you get to meet them in person.

October is Window Covering Safety Month. Designers, this month is a reminder, but our team takes safety seriously year-round.

It’s why we stay educated and ahead of new technology. Cordless operation is the standard on everything we make, and we’re well-versed in the latest automated systems, which take cords out of the room entirely and bring tall or hard-to-reach windows within easy control.

In boutique hospitality, safety also means fire code. Restaurant and hotel drapery often must meet flame-retardant standards, so we confirm every fabric has the right rating before fabrication.

Then there’s the sun. Automated shades can be programmed to lower during peak hours, limiting UV exposure and protecting the furnishings and textiles your clients have invested in.

We plan every installation for the longevity. We mount heavy drapery and wide tracks to carry their weight safely for years, something Lenny and our install team account for on every site.

Have a project where safety needs to be part of the spec? Let’s talk through it together.

Most handmade Roman shades let in tiny pinpricks of light where the lining is stitched to the face fabric. This one doesn’t.

For this Malvern bedroom by Stephanie Kraus Design, our atelier attached the blackout lining using the Elki method, which leaves no holes at all. That lets the shade deliver true blackout in a room where sleep matters most.

Designers, save this for your next bedroom spec.

Michele Plachter always brings us fabrics that feel made just for the room she’s designing, and this Longport shore home was no exception.

For the seating area in the primary bedroom, she selected Rosemary Hallgarten’s Fishbone, a polyester and linen blend with a texture that suits life at the beach. We fabricated it into stationary ripplefold drapery that keeps a calm, even line along the windows and asks very little of the homeowners. Zero Gravity shades from Crown sit behind the drapery and handle the light and privacy work. We also made the pillows in the room in our atelier.

We’ve collaborated with Michele on many projects over the years, and her designs always account for how her clients actually live, which shows in every room she sends our way.

Off-season is a great time to finish shore projects while clients are away. Share this with a designer you know working at the Jersey Shore this fall.

Last year we took on a whole-home project with Bergman Vass for an MVP client and his family. Architectural Digest featured the home, and we recently shared more about our role in it on the blog.

We fabricated custom drapery and Roman shades for nearly every room, added an upholstered wall in one bedroom, and built a pair of handcrafted indoor-outdoor ottomans for the cabana.

This is traversing hardware doing exactly what it was designed to do.

The Fall Line, a PGA-rated golf club in the Georgia sandhills, called for window treatments that could serve a guest’s needs at any hour, in any light. Each cottage room featured a sheer panel layered with a blackout, fire-rated drapery panel on manual traversing tracks. Pull the sheer for filtered morning light. Pull the blackout for complete darkness. No hassle, just hardware and fabric specified correctly for how the space is actually used. Swipe for the video tour.

That’s the difference between a treatment that looks right and one that works right. In a boutique hospitality space, you need both.

Hospitality Tip No. 03: — Traversing hardware: the case for specifying it correctly.

Fixed panels look beautiful. Traversing panels work. In a boutique hospitality space where drapery must function as well as it looks, the hardware decision matters more than most designers expect.

Hospitality spaces change configurations. A private dining room, a members lounge, a ballroom. These are spaces where the drapery needs to move. Traversing hardware gives the operations team control without touching the design intent.

Scale demands automation. A space with 16-foot drapery runs isn't a space where someone should be manually pulling panels. Automated traversing tracks are the correct spec at that scale...for the staff, for the treatment, and for the longevity of the fabric.

The stack matters. A panel that stacks cleanly when open reads as architectural. A panel that bunches and pulls reads as an afterthought. Specify the stack position and the return before fabrication starts, not after.

Traversing hardware is also the preservation decision. Fabric that is pulled by hand every day wears at the leading edge. Automated traversing extends the life of the treatment significantly, which matters when the panels are floor to ceiling, and the room is in constant use.

Small rooms leave nowhere for details to hide.

In this powder room by Meadowbank Designs, we fabricated a café curtain sized to the lower half of the window, giving the space privacy without giving up the natural light. Its soft pleating and clean white fabric keep it light and tailored, so the blue floral wallcovering and brass finishes take the lead.

A treatment this modest still asks for careful proportions, a precise mount, and fabrication that holds up to close inspection, because in a room this size, it will get exactly that. We bring the same standard to a single café curtain that we bring to a wall of drapery.
