We have some exciting news to share with our Jessup community! The Board of Trustees has invited Dr. Meghan Barnard to serve as Jessup University’s seventh president, beginning July 1, 2026.

As the first woman to lead Jessup, Dr. Barnard brings a rare combination of strategic foresight, operational excellence and a deep commitment to mission-driven higher education. She is deeply dedicated to academic excellence, ensuring that every student has the opportunity, resources, and support to succeed, and to the student’s journey to be transformed by Christ.

We are also incredibly grateful for the godly leadership of interim president Dr. Parnell M. Lovelace, Jr. during this season.

For Jennifer Blair, Program Director of Theatre at Jessup, answering that single, life-altering question changed everything. From launching the program in 2012 with a single hand-painted box office sign to breaking attendance records with over 4,800 audience members for Mary Poppins, her mission has remained steadfast: integrating deep faith with uncompromising artistic excellence.

Through Jessup's "Theatre 360" approach, students don’t just learn a craft—they are trained in every aspect of production with professional rigor and moral clarity, preparing them to enter the entertainment industry nationwide as true storytellers. As Jen beautifully shares, her ultimate assignment is to never stop learning alongside them.

What does real campus community look like? It looks like a roommate sitting on a bathroom floor at 3 a.m., or an entire dorm lifting a student up after months away dealing with a health crisis.

College brings incredible growth, but it can also bring unexpected trials. In this video, our students open up about their real battles with mental and physical health—and how living on campus provided the exact community, support, and worship environment they needed to pull through.

As one student shared: "There’s going to be ups and downs, but in the end, God will provide... and it’s even better when you’re living with those people."

For Board of Trustees member Rachael Gelsinger, her "Why Jessup?" is deeply personal. With a husband whose calling was shaped here and family who have supported our campus for decades, she knows firsthand the impact of a Jessup education.

Earlier this year, Rachael’s faith, professional expertise and collaborative spirit guided our Board through a rigorous nationwide presidential search. We are incredibly grateful for her steady, servant-hearted leadership.

Today, we reflect on the profound gift of learning, but more importantly, on the transformative power of a *Christian* higher education.

Since 1939, Jessup has stood as a beacon on the hill, built on a clear and unwavering foundation: Jesus First – Jesus Always. Our mission has never been simply about educating; it’s about educating with eternal purpose.

As our Interim President, Dr. Parnell M. Lovelace, Jr., beautifully shared: "While the world around us continues to change at a rapid pace, our identity remains secure. We are rooted in Christ, committed to academic excellence and devoted to preparing students who lead with wisdom, character and faith."
