The NEOMED Free Clinic provides free healthcare services to uninsured and underserved individuals while giving future healthcare professionals valuable hands-on experience caring for patients.

Through the dedication of students, faculty and volunteer providers, the clinic is open most Saturday mornings, to help improve access to care and make a difference in the communities we serve.

This week marks the beginning of an exciting clinical journey for 27 NEOMED third-year medical students through our partnership with The Christ Hospital Health Network and Miami University.

As they prepare for immersive clinical experiences across specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, OB/GYN, emergency medicine and surgery, these future physicians will learn alongside dedicated healthcare professionals while serving communities across the region.

Partnerships like this are essential to strengthening Ohio's physician workforce and expanding access to care.

Third year medical students have spent this week gearing up for clinical rotations!

They've sharpened skills like suturing, intramuscular injections, NG tubes, and catheter placements. Over the coming months, they'll step into hospitals and clinics across the country, working alongside physicians, caring for patients and gaining the hands-on experience that shapes the next generation of doctors.

Advancing research starts with collaboration.

The UH–NEOMED Neurodegenerative Disease and Aging Research Center recently hosted a Neurodegenerative Disease and Aging Symposium, bringing together researchers, clinicians, faculty and trainees to share discoveries, build connections and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

From Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease research to emerging approaches in aging and cognitive health, the symposium highlighted the impact of partnership in driving scientific progress and improving lives.

Thank you to everyone who presented, attended and contributed to a successful event.

Working in teams, they followed clues, solved puzzles and raced against the clock to "escape" the hack, all while reinforcing key concepts from class.

Second-year medical student Abigail Schwenk was among more than 200 NEOMED students who presented their work at the 2025 Student Research Symposium.

Inspired by her family medicine preceptorship experience, Abigail's research focused on improving breast cancer screening rates in rural Ohio through patient education and better access to local resources. Her findings highlight how simple, low-cost interventions can help reduce barriers to preventive care and improve health outcomes in underserved communities.

The UH–NEOMED Hearing Research Center recently hosted a Hearing Research Symposium that brought together researchers, clinicians and trainees from across both institutions to share findings, explore new funding opportunities and spark future collaborations.

From basic science to clinical applications, presentations highlighted innovative work in hearing loss, auditory neuroscience, cochlear implants and pediatric hearing outcomes. The event also provided valuable opportunities for networking and idea-sharing, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing hearing research and improving patient care.

Together, we're building stronger partnerships that accelerate innovation and impact.
