What if the different "parts" of you (the anxious part, the overachiever, the inner critic) aren't flaws to fix, but protectors doing their best? On this episode of Inside the Session, Dr. Cat Araya, Alliant Adjunct Professor and IFS Institute Curriculum Lead Specialist, joins hosts Drs. Jason Branch and Cheryl Fisher for an accessible introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic model that views the mind as naturally made up of different parts, each with its own role, history, and protective intention.

As she begins her third year in Alliant’s Clinical Psychology PsyD program, one of our outstanding students is reaching exciting new milestones in her academic and clinical journey!

From gaining hands-on experience conducting neuropsychological assessments at KMN Psych to beginning a third-year practicum at the University of San Diego Health & Wellness Counseling Center, Nicole Eberhardt is continuing to expand her clinical skills and support diverse populations.

She has also successfully passed her Alliant dissertation proposal, with research focused on improving our understanding of ADHD symptom presentation in females—a study that could help inform more accurate assessment and earlier intervention for girls and women. 👏

“My hope is that this research can help inform more accurate assessment practices and earlier intervention, ultimately improving outcomes for girls and women with ADHD. I’m deeply grateful to my chair, Dr. Talia Szydlo, and my reader, Madeleine Starin-Simon, PsyD, for their ongoing mentorship, guidance, and support through this process!”
