🎊As part of Transgender History Month, honored the Transgender Name and Gender-Marker Change Clinic, a USD Law student organization, for its ongoing work to strengthen access to justice across California’s LGBTQ+ community.

The clinic was recognized alongside several San Diego organizations serving the transgender community through advocacy, education, health care, and direct support. Supervising attorneys Joahna Fredericksen-Aguilar and Antonio Page-Kahn represented the clinic at the City Council ceremony.

⚖️Since its founding in 2018, the clinic has served more than 1,200 clients while providing USD Law students with hands-on experience in pro bono legal work.

🎉Join USD Law in recognizing Professors Adam Hirsch, Orly Lobel, and Erin Sheley, who have been honored with professorships for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Hirsch was recognized with a University Professorship, the highest academic honor bestowed university-wide at USD. He is the Napoleon A. Jones, Jr., Professor of Law and has been a member of the USD Law faculty since 2013.

Lobel received the Herzog Endowed Scholar Award, which recognizes meritorious teaching and scholarly productivity. She is the founding director of the Center for Employment and Labor Policy and an award-winning author and scholar.

Sheley received the Class of 1975 Endowed Professorship, which recognizes meritorious teaching, leadership, and academic accomplishments. She joined the USD Law faculty in 2025, and her areas of expertise include criminal law and criminal procedure.
