So what’s a Cru summer mission like? Check out this update from Newyouman who went to earlier this summer! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

“Hey everyone, my name is Newyouman Gora and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel to San Diego for summer mission! It’s been a great and knowledgeable experience, learning about the importance of being equipped in the truth, understanding, and clarity of evangelism. Every morning, we had meetings, and those meetings were times of training, reflecting, and one on one time with God.

We went on campus to tell people about our testimonies and the gospel. At first it was intense, but as I allowed the Holy Spirit to lead me and not my instincts there’s ease and peace throughout the time of sharing. Allowing the Lord to assist is what help me realize that it’s Him that’s in control of all things throughout the moments of evangelism.

There were some fun days where we’d go to the beach to go in the ocean, play basketball or volleyball, do early morning walks/coffee runs, and go on early morning jogs. Those are the moments that are going to be the most memorable, especially meeting people who genuinely want to pursue God together and make Him known.

I’m most certainly thankful that the Lord allowed me to go on SDA summer mission once again, and for putting people in my life that aren’t temporary, but are intentional and worthwhile!”

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” —Romans 10:14-15

We know that all those who belong to Jesus have been made to be carriers of this good news, announcing the Gospel wherever Jesus isn’t known! We’ve been made to be on mission.

So where will you go? How will you go on mission this year?

So.... We’re headed back to TX this Spring Break. And the REGISTRATION IS LIVE!!!

You can find the link in our bio! Sign up ASAP using code EARLYBIRD to get the whole trip for just $195. That includes most food while we’re in TX, housing and registration! But hurry that code is only good til they run out or til Jan 25th!

Not sure what our TX Spring Break is all about? We’ll be serving refugee and asylum-seekers along the border and partnering with two Spanish-speaking churches to be light in their contexts.

“These are the people who are turning the world upside down!” — Acts 17:6b

Everywhere they went in Acts, Paul and Silas and the early church saw God at work to transform the world they’d been sent to.

So much so that people came out to stop them, because they were just a few too many things changing! They were turning the world upside down!

But that’s what the Gospel does—it transforms lives. It changes the world we live in. It toppled systems of oppression and proclaims freedom to the captives. It brings life and healing to places of death and hurt.

So what do you say? Are you ready to leave an impact? Are you ready to turn the world upside down?

Happiness, grief, thanksgiving, doubt, anger, overwhelming joy, bitterness, praise... the book of Psalms is full of poems and prayers that cover every state of mind you could be walking in. If you are unsure where to start or what to pray for, try opening to a Psalm!

Does prayer really matter?? 🙏 Is God listening? And if he is, would God really do something different just because I asked?

Prayer is at once a nearly universal human experience and something that we often struggle to understand.

And perhaps at the core of that struggle, is the question, “Does this matter? Is anyone listening?”

As we look at the Bible though, we find an incredible and challenging picture of prayer.

We find Jesus himself setting aside time to pray in the morning—treating prayer like it really matters for his relationship with God!

We see men like Nehemiah and women like Esther risking their lives on the hope of a prayer!

And we see Moses in Numbers 14 actually seeming to change God’s mind because he prayed!!

This week, would you begin to pray with us? Make a list of 2-5 things that you really need to see God show up in. And begin to pray!!

That look when your brother’s prayer goes on for just a little too long... 😂

But on a serious note—we know that this time of the year can be a lot. With finals and year end projects set right alongside plans for summer or post-graduation, this season brings no shortage of emotions and stress. Add to that the pandemic realities this year has brought and this can be quite the crazy season.

For some, it’s anxiety around academics. For others of you, it’s weariness just at this year and the added pandemic stress load.

For others, maybe it’s hope for a fresh start next fall or even hope for what God has for you post-graduation.

Either way, here’s our prayer for you today!

Father God, in the midst of this crazy and fast moving season, we come to you. Though our hearts can swing from stressed to hopeful in a moment, you keep us. We take comfort in the knowledge that you hem us in, behind and before, and lay your hand on us. (Psalm 139:5)

Today, our God, would you remind us that you go with us even through the depths of the Red Sea, our chaos. And fill us with your Spirit to make us a messenger of peace and life to those around us who also find themselves in times of change and stress! Amen!

A beach doesn’t sound too bad right about now... As you look toward this summer, have you considered going on a Cru Summer Mission? Maybe even one that would take you to a beach? 🏝

A Cru Summer Mission could be a great way to invest your summer in growing in your walk with the Lord and learning to reach your friends with the Gospel.

“As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace.” —Ephesians 6:15
