In 1969, Seminole Junior College faced losing its accreditation. What happened next helped shape the college we know today.

Students rallied for support. Residents approved a $250,000 bond. The First Presbyterian Church opened its doors for classes and paid the utilities. Two years later, voters approved a penny sales tax to help sustain the college.

Our latest 95th anniversary feature follows the community effort that carried the college from church classrooms to its first permanent campus building, with memories from 1972 alumnus Terry Morris.

5,000 flags. One powerful tribute to those who have served.

On Oct. 26, SSC students and employees planted 5,000 American flags on campus in honor of our nation's veterans. The honor field was made possible by American Legion Post 204 of Seminole.

The display comes ahead of SSC's fourth annual Military and Veteran Resource Fair on Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Enoch Kelly Haney Center.

The free event will connect veterans, active-duty service members and their families with resources for VA benefits, healthcare, education, employment and more.

We loved welcoming some future college students to campus this week!
Approximately 200 GEAR UP students from Ada Middle School visited SSC on Oct. 21 and 22 to get a firsthand look at college life!

Students kicked off their visits with a welcome in the Jeff Johnston Auditorium, explored campus during guided tours and wrapped up their day with lunch in the Student Union.

We enjoyed meeting these students and hope to see them back on campus in the future!
