LCC Launches Career Ed Camps!
Lassen College launched the first of its Career Ed Camps last week, a new opportunity for local high school students to explore Career and Technical Education programs available right here in our region!
Our first half-day Career Ed Camp focused on Business and welcomed students from Lassen High School and Thompson Peak Charter. Students did a quick campus tour before heading to the classroom, where LCC Business Instructor Keli Anthis led engaging, hands-on activities that gave students a chance to explore business and entrepreneurship in an interactive way.
The day wrapped up with lunch and a career panel featuring Cecilia Allin (Blue Ox), Mandy McGarva (CPA), Ronni DeMasi (Edward Jones), and David Teeter (Margie’s Book Nook). Panelists answered students’ questions and shared their experiences in business, accounting, finance, leadership, and entrepreneurship, along with valuable career advice and real-world wisdom.
Career Ed Camps will continue throughout the semester, with each camp highlighting a different subject area, including Computer Information Systems, Welding, and Administration of Justice. These events give students the opportunity to engage in hands-on projects, connect with local employers, and begin thinking about the many career possibilities available to them.
A big thank you to our local high school faculty and staff, career panelists, and everyone at Lassen College who helped make our first Career Ed Camp a success. We’re looking forward to the camps ahead!
