Ellen T. Van Fossen ‘84 BSN passed away on October 20, 2026. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a highly respected geriatric nurse practitioner, making a lasting impact on the lives of her patients, their families and her colleagues. May she rest in peace.

Janel Sevilla '21 (VSB), an MBA student at Harvard Business School, is researching patient prep for procedures with high failure rates, starting with colonoscopies. She is looking to speak with nurses who work with procedures though GI and endoscopy. For background, she was diagnosed with Crohn's and has her own perspective on the problem but notes that nurses see it across hundreds of patients and understand it better than anyone.

Congratulations to Villanova Nursing alumni Lillia Kirkwood '25 BSN, RN, and Julianna Stiloski '25 BSN, RN, on completing the nurse residency program at NYU! 👏🎉

As new nurses, both are already making an impact through evidence-based practice projects that improve patient care. Julianna, who works in Labor & Delivery, focused her research on improving outcomes related to postpartum hemorrhage, while Lillia, an OR nurse, explored local anesthetic systemic toxicity.

We're proud to see these nurse graduates applying their Villanova education to advance care and make a difference for patients every day.

Mary E. Halphen Greipp '60 BSN, EdD, RN, FAAN, of Delran, N.J., died on August 17, 2026. She was a 1992 recipient of the College of Nursing's Medallion for Distinguished Contributions to the Profession. Her career spanned clinical practice, education and research.
