Five leadership lessons. One memorable evening at Crummer.
Crummer alumni, students, prospective MBA candidates, and friends of the school recently came together for an evening of leadership, learning, and connection with Professor Mark Hertling, Lt. Gen., U.S. Army (Ret.).

Through personal stories, practical insights, and thoughtful conversation, Professor Hertling challenged us to think beyond leadership as a position—and instead consider how our character, actions, judgment, and ability to influence others shape the leaders we become.

Five ideas stood out:

1. Business is a human endeavor.
Successful leadership begins with understanding people, culture, communication, and relationships.

2. Leadership is both science and art.
Strategy, finance, technology, and systems are essential—but so are character, ethics, presence, and influence.

3. BE. KNOW. DO.
Who you are, what you know, and what you do must work together to create trust and results.

4. Leadership depends on context.
Effective leaders understand the people, organization, culture, and circumstances before determining how best to lead.

5. Character shapes destiny.
The values leaders and organizations practice ultimately determine what they become.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so meaningful.

Truly a night defined by connection, conversation, and Crummer community.

The Final Application Deadline to join our Fall 2026 MBA cohort is July 1.

Could there be musical life after John, Paul, George, and Ringo?

When The Beatles’ final studio album, Let It Be, became history in 1970, it also signaled a massive void in the rock universe. But British rock was far from finished.

Join Dr. Greg Marshall and other music fans on Rollins Radio WPRK 91.5 FM for a musical journey through the Post-Beatles Era of British Rock — a time when new bands, new sounds, and a lasting rock legacy helped define one of music’s greatest eras.

The Beatles may have changed everything.
But the music lived on.

The smiles all look similar.
But they don’t mean the same thing.

Some are relief.
Some are pride.
Some come from finally proving something to yourself.
Some come from realizing you found the right people at the right moment in your life.

That’s one of the things students talk about most after the MBA experience:
how much they learned from the people sitting next to them.

Not just in class.
But in the conversations, the pressure, the shared uncertainty, and the growth that happened together.

And somehow, by commencement day, you can see it on their faces.

Sometimes growth starts with finding the right room.

A diploma is a strange object. From the outside, it looks like the end of a program.
But for the people holding it, it represents hundreds of invisible moments no one else saw: late nights studying together, group chats full of panic and encouragement, workdays followed by class, the slow realization that maybe you were capable of more than you thought.

That’s why commencement feels emotional.
Not because of the paper.
Because of who you became while earning it.

The next Accelerated MBA cohort begins taking shape July 1: https://crummer.rollins.edu/academic-programs/accelerated-mba/
Some decisions start changing you long before graduation.

05/26/2026

Most people see a handshake. What they don’t see are the conversations behind it.
The moments of doubt.
The weekends sacrificed.
The nights spent questioning whether the MBA was the right decision.
The moments someone in the cohort challenged your thinking hard enough to change it.

By commencement day, something is different.
Not just the resume.
Not just the title.

The way you see yourself in the room.

That’s part of what the Executive MBA experience at Crummer is really about.
The next EMBA cohort begins soon, and the July 1 deadline is approaching.
If you’re looking for a room that will challenge how you think — not just validate what you already know — we’d love to talk.

Finishing an MBA is more than completing a program.
It is the satisfaction of realizing you became someone slightly different along the way
Commencement is simply the moment those changes become visible.
Congratulations to the Crummer MBA Class of 2026.
We can’t wait to see what comes next.

In a world moving faster every day, curiosity becomes more than a trait. It becomes a leadership skill.

We’re honored to welcome Rodney C. Adkins as the 2026 Crummer MBA Commencement Speaker.

Engineer, business leader, former IBM Senior Vice President, and author of Curiosity Redefines the Limits, Adkins has spent his career leading through innovation, complexity, and change.

This year, each graduate will also receive a copy of his book at the Commencement reception, a fitting reminder that learning doesn’t end here.

Complex problems don’t disappear.
You learn how to see them differently.
With more clarity.
More perspective.
Better decisions.
This is what changed.
