His name was Kohen Wiley. He was just one year old, with his whole life still ahead of him. In June 2026, Kohen was fatally shot by a Senatobia police officer during an encounter in a Walmart parking lot in Mississippi. The officer identified in reporting as Hunter Foster fired at the vehicle carrying the toddler. On October 19, the Mississippi attorney general ruled that the use of force was justified and would not pursue criminal charges. That decision has been strongly challenged by Kohen’s family and their attorney, who continue to question whether deadly force was necessary.
No official decision can erase the pain of a family that has lost its child. Kohen deserved the chance to grow up, laugh, learn, and experience the life every child should have.
His name should not fade from public memory. His family deserves answers, transparency, and a process that people can trust. When a child loses his life in a police encounter, the questions deserve serious attention, and accountability must never be dismissed as unimportant.
Remember Kohen Wiley. His life mattered, and his family deserves to be heard.
