The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is one of the UAE’s oldest and most prestigious universities. As an independent UAE institution of higher education, UOWD attracts students not just from the UAE and Australia but from all over the world. Over 4,000 students representing 117 different nationalities are currently enrolled at UOWD and enjoy a quality academic experience. UOWD offers a variety of specialist Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs in Business, Computing, Engineering, Media & Communication and International Studies. UOWD has a dedicated Language Studies Centre, offering a wide range of language courses and communication development programs, designed to help you achieve your language learning goals. Programs are delivered by qualified language teaching professionals, all of whom have experience of teaching in an international context. A significant milestone made even more memorable by those who joined us in celebrating the Class of 2026.

We were honoured to welcome His Highness Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated; His Excellency Ambassador Ridwaan Jadwat; UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Max Lu AO; Ms Marisa Mastroianni; and Mr Mounir Sankary, Acting Consul-General and Trade and Investment Commissioner, Dubai.

Across the ceremonies, we were also privileged to hear from our guest speakers Mike Sneesby; Vice Admiral Michael Noonan AO, RAN (Rtd); and Professor Alan Rowan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), University of Wollongong.

Their presence and perspectives added to a special celebration of our graduates.

It's a wrap on Graduation 2026!

Over three days and five ceremonies, we celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2026 alongside the families, friends, academics and university community who helped make the journey possible.

It was a memorable few days of celebration, recognition and pride as our graduates marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next.

To the Class of 2026: congratulations on everything you have achieved at UOWD. We look forward to seeing where you go next.

Every graduate has been supported by family members and friends who encouraged them, celebrated the wins, stood by them through the difficult days and believed in what they could become.

We had a fantastic time welcoming our international students through a traditional Emirati breakfast.

Over local dishes and conversation, students had the opportunity to discover more about Emirati culture and traditions, connect with each other and experience another side of life in the UAE.

We had a fantastic time at TEDxUOWD, listening to thought-provoking talks and hearing powerful stories.

Under the theme Beyond the Frame: Reimagining How We See the World, our speakers encouraged us to question familiar assumptions, consider different perspectives and look at the world around us through a new lens.

It was great to see our students so engaged, exchanging views and continuing the conversations beyond the talks themselves.
