400 seminars. 18 years. One Wednesday at a time.
On 26 November 2008, Middlesex University Dubai held its first Research Seminar. On 4 November 2026, we will hold our 400th.
Launched to give faculty a regular space to share work in progress, the Wednesday Research Seminar Series has grown into one of the longest-running academic traditions on our campus. Over 400 sessions, it has brought together researchers from across our various departments, colleagues from universities throughout the UAE, and visiting scholars from around the world, covering everything from business, economics, law and psychology to robotics, sustainability and AI. Many of the collaborations, publications and funded projects at MDX Dubai began as a conversation in that room on a Wednesday afternoon.
To mark the milestone, the 400th seminar looks back at the whole journey.
