On May 5th, we hosted a special ceremony to present the John Cummins Memorial Scholarships to this years recipients and their families. John Cummins was a union leader and a tireless advocate for working people and community causes. These scholarships honour his legacy and support Year 10-12 students who demonstrate talent, commitment, and determination.

We were pleased to welcome Di Cummins, John’s wife, and Michael Connolly, CEO of Protect, to present the awards. We were also delighted that quite a number of parents were able to attend the ceremony which was followed by a morning tea.

Congratulations to: Akaisha, Belinda, Maggie, Edie, Chloe, Sanjay, Kaitlyn, Alex B, Edward, Areon, Alex V and Charlotte.

On Thursday 7th May, we had our first foray back into interschool sport after many, many years away from the competition. We had a small team who competed at the Banyule/Nillumbik Divisional Athletics at Meadowglen International Stadium in Epping. The weather was atrocious with wind, rain and bitter cold, but these students did us proud with their resilience and effort on the day. It was wonderful to see them dig deep to fight the elements to represent the college and show off their talent.

Congratulations to the following students who placed in their events:
Alex B (Year 10 Arts) - 1st in long jump and triple jump, 2nd javelin
Will T (Year 11 Pre-App) - 3rd in 400m
Coby T (Year 11 Pre-App) - 1st in discus
Eve M (Year 12 VCE) - 2nd in 400m
Kianah S (Year 12 VCE) - 3rd in long jump, 2nd in 800m
Alex P (Year 12 VM) - 2nd in javelin and 400m, 3rd in triple jump and shot put
Max K (Year 12 VCE) - 1st in discus, 3rd in long jump
Ruby, Kianah, Eve and Via (18 - 20 years) - 2nd in the relay

A special shout out to Ziggy from Year 10 Tech who came 4th in the 3000m open event against the older students. We look forward to seeing what Ziggy can do in the coming years.

We have lnterschool Netball coming up this week, with 3 senior teams entered - 2 girls teams and 1 boys teams. We’re excited to see what we can do with this competition as well.

A big congratulations to the student leadership team on another successful World’s Greatest Shave event and for raising $2010 in donations and proceeds from the student-run BBQ, all for the Leukaemia Foundation. An even bigger thank you to our student and teacher volunteers who had their heads and beards shaved for the cause.

📸 Special thanks to Year 12 Art Creative Practice (Photography) student Phoebe for taking photos across the day 💯
