𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐌𝐨𝐔 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚-𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐦 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝-𝐮𝐩 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐔𝐈𝐂).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Textile Engineering of City University and Ha-Meem Group was signed during the visit to its head office in the Tejgaon Industrial Area in Dhaka. The signing of the MoU took place during the visit led by Dr. A K M Saiful Islam (Head of the Department of Textile Engineering), accompanied by Md. Arifuzzaman (Associate Professor) and Md. Ashnaim Bari (Assistant Professor) on October 27th, 2026. On behalf of Ha-Meem Group, the signing ceremony was attended by Abdullah Al Helal Sarker (Assistant General Manager, Human Resources), Parvez Ahmed (Senior Manager, Human Resources), and Touhedul Islam (Assistant Manager, Human Resources).

The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for academic–industry collaboration between the Department of Textile Engineering, City University and Ha-Meem Group to enhance practical learning, industrial exposure, professional development, research collaboration, and knowledge exchange in the field of textile engineering and related disciplines.

Ha-Meem Group stands as one of the leading conglomerates and key players in Bangladesh’s global apparel supply chain. Through this partnership, students will gain comprehensive industrial exposure, structured internship pathways, technical training, joint research opportunities, and direct employment linkages. This bridge between academic curriculum and operational reality aims to address prevailing skill gaps at a pivotal time, as the ready-made garment (RMG) sector undergoes rapid technological innovation, automation, sustainability, and AI-driven transformation.

The Department of Textile Engineering extends sincere appreciation to the leadership team of Ha-Meem Group for their hospitality, forward-looking vision, and dedication to empowering future textile professionals. Both institutions look forward to building a productive, long-term alliance that drives innovation, produces future-ready graduates, and fosters sustainable growth for Bangladesh’s textile & apparel industry.

::::Seminar on Higher Education Opportunities in Malaysia Held at City University::::

City University organized a seminar titled “Seminar on Pursuing Higher Education at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Other Universities in Malaysia: Opportunities and Prospects” on 13 October 2026 at the Central Auditorium of City University.

The seminar aimed to highlight opportunities and prospects for pursuing higher education at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and other universities in Malaysia, providing students with valuable insights into international academic pathways.

Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Dean and Associate Professor, Faculty of Leadership and Management, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), attended the seminar as the Chief Guest. Dr. Md Yousuf Ali, USIM Ambassador and Associate Professor, Faculty of Leadership and Management, USIM, attended as the Guest of Honour.

The session was chaired by Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. Engr. Md Lutfor Rahman (Retd.), Vice-Chancellor of City University. The event was also graced by Prof. Kazi Shahdat Kabir, Ph.D., Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), City University, and Lt. Col. M. M. Golam Mohaimen, psc, G+ (Retd.), Registrar of City University, as Special Guests.

The seminar highlighted the academic opportunities available in Malaysia, particularly at USIM and other Malaysian universities, and offered students a platform to explore international study options and gain a broader understanding of overseas higher education.

২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬: সিটি ইউনিভার্সিটির কেন্দ্রীয় গ্রন্থাগারে ‘জুলাই ২৪ ও শহীদ সজল কর্নার’ উদ্বোধন করা হয়েছে। আজ, ২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপাচার্য Brig Gen Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Lutfor Rahman (Retd.) আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে কর্নারটির উদ্বোধন করেন।

উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাননীয় উপ-উপাচার্য, পরীক্ষা নিয়ন্ত্রক , বিভিন্ন অনুষদের সম্মানিত ডীন, রেজিস্ট্রার, বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ এবং লাইব্রেরিয়ান সহ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অন্যান্য শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিবর্গ।

‘জুলাই ২৪ ও শহীদ সজল কর্নার’-এ জুলাই ২০২৪-এর ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনাবলি, সংশ্লিষ্ট স্মৃতি ও তথ্য এবং শহীদ সজলের স্মৃতি সংরক্ষণের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে। নতুন প্রজন্মের শিক্ষার্থীদের বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাস, মুক্তিযুদ্ধ সহ সকল জনযুদ্ধ ও বিপ্লবের কথা, স্মৃতি ও ঐতিহ্য সম্পর্কে জানার সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করাই এই কর্নার প্রতিষ্ঠার অন্যতম উদ্দেশ্য।

উদ্বোধনকালে মাননীয় উপাচার্য বলেন, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গ্রন্থাগার শুধু পাঠ ও গবেষণার স্থান নয়; এটি জ্ঞান, ইতিহাস ও মূল্যবোধ সংরক্ষণেরও একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রতিষ্ঠান। তিনি আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন যে, ‘জুলাই ২৪ ও শহীদ সজল কর্নার’ শিক্ষার্থীদের ইতিহাস সম্পর্কে জানতে এবং ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্মৃতি সংরক্ষণে কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখবে।

উদ্বোধন শেষে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ ও শিক্ষকগণ কর্নারটি পরিদর্শন করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত সবাই এ উদ্যোগের প্রশংসা করেন এবং কর্নারটির যথাযথ সংরক্ষণ, পরিচর্যা ও ধারাবাহিকভাবে সমৃদ্ধকরণের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।
