Schools break up for October half term tomorrow; well done to our trainees on their first steps in teaching! They've observed, planned & delivered parts of lessons, then some have taught full lessons.

Interested in a teaching career? We’d love you to apply for a PGCE starting in September 2027. CSA won’t exist after this school year, but our schools in Carlisle and its environs will continue to work with One Cumbria to provide a terrific training programme. We have a long track record of seeing local trainees getting jobs in local schools. A beautiful day for a Lead Mentor to be out visiting trainees/mentors at our Penrith schools. It’s that time of year when first visits are made to schools, to see how trainees are settling in. Great to see folk at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Penrith , Ullswater Community College and Trinity School - A Church of England Academy today.

The induction fortnight is complete for our new cohort of trainees. Lots of preliminary info and prep worked through, with a splendidly collaborative group of trainees. On to first school placements next week!

A warm welcome to our new cohort of PGCE trainees, who (along with fellow One Cumbria trainees) began their induction fortnight on Wednesday. A busy year lies ahead! The recruitment window for September 2027’s cohort opens in the first week of October.

We're amid the final Lead Mentor Visits to trainees in schools now.
