The Scottish Chamber Orchestra returns to St Andrews this summer to present Duruflé's Requiem!

SCO Chorus
Gregory Batsleer: conductor
Bethany Horak-Hallett: mezzo soprano
Paul Grant: baritone
Philip Higham: cello
Michael Bawtree: organ

Join the SCO Chorus for an evening of profound beauty and spiritual depth. At the heart of the programme is Duruflé’s Requiem, a work of luminous serenity and consolation, blending Gregorian chant with exquisite harmonies to create one of the most beloved choral works of the 20th century. Complementing this masterpiece are Philip Glass’ Three Songs for mixed a ca****la choir, hypnotic and meditative in their minimalist elegance, and Sir James MacMillan’s Miserere, a deeply moving modern reflection on faith and mercy.

Together, these works offer a journey through timeless sound worlds- intimate, transcendent, and unforgettable.

In two weeks, the Iris Trio will be joining us at the Laidlaw for a striking mixed-media concert, combining spoken poetry with artful performance and the deeply human effort to preserve the natural world.

In Project Earth: The Green Chapter, the Iris Trio brings vital new works by internationally decorated poet Karen Solie and celebrated Canadian composers Andrew Downing and Sarah Slean to Scotland. The Iris Trio – Christine Carter (clarinet), Zoë Martin-Doike (viola), and Anna Petrova (piano) – have performed on major concert stages from Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall to the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Sydney Opera House.

An interdisciplinary address to environmental crises and to beauty worth protecting, The Green Chapter has been praised by Miranda Massie, Founder and Director of New York City’s Climate Museum as “striking and beautiful, its presentation of spoken poetry combined with musical performances perfectly calibrated, and the principals’ performances staggeringly accomplished, in sync, and alive.”
