Joseph’s Institute, and was renamed St. Joseph College in 1947,the School has blossomed into one of the most respectable Educational Institutions not only in Cavite City but also in the entire province of Cavite. The Augustinian Recollect Sisters take turns in managing the School. The school’s expansion in buildings and program offerings is in response to the needs and aspirations of the people in the community. An additional baccalaureate program was added at a time when Hotels and Restaurants were beginning to operate in the suburbs as a result of expatriates moving into the province due to the opening and development of an export processing zone in the nearby town of Rosario, Cavite. The School Administrators have initiated several innovations; one of which is the construction of a Mock Hotel that will house the HRM students for their practicum. A building for the grade school department is also in the list of priorities after the construction of the simulation hotel. Apart from that, the school has already managed to have the School Chapel renovated and all the classrooms air-conditioned. Additional laboratory materials have also been purchased for the various laboratories of High School and College; while the Skills Laboratory of the Institute of Health Sciences has been upgraded to keep up with the demands of the nursing program. The Learning Resource Center or the library is continuously acquiring newly published books to help students in their assignments and requirements. Computers with internet access have also been provided to all laboratories and offices. SJCCI is currently offering Basic Education under the K-12 Curriculum (Preschool Education, Grade School, Junior High School, Senior High School) and Higher Education including B.S. Nursing, Diploma in Midwifery, Bachelor in Elementary Education, Bachelor in Secondary Education (Major in Science, Mathematics, and English), and B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism. It also has a Master of Arts in Education and Master of Arts in Nursing program offerings. The Basic Education (Elementary and Junior High School) is on the second level of accreditation under the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities. The institution is never left behind as far as board passers are concerned. Glorieciel R. Delos Santos gave honor to the Institute of Health Sciences by emerging on top of the Nursing Board Examination, besting thousands of students from all over the country. For the School of Midwifery, it ranked 3rd over-all in September 2004 and 1st over-all in 2005 and 2006. The graduates of this school are all successful in their chosen endeavor. Today, on its 75th year of service and commitment not only to the community and the whole country, St. Joseph College of Cavite, Inc. continues to stand proud as an educational institution steadfast in providing quality Christian education.

Feast Day of Sts. Simon & Jude Thaddeus
October 28

Jude is so named by Luke and Acts. Matthew and Mark call him Thaddeus. He is not mentioned elsewhere in the Gospels, except of course where all the apostles are mentioned. Scholars hold that he is not the author of the Letter of Jude. Actually, Jude had the same name as Judas Iscariot. Evidently because of the disgrace of that name, it was shortened to “Jude” in English.

Simon is mentioned on all four lists of the apostles. On two of them he is called “the Zealot.” The Zealots were a Jewish sect that represented an extreme of Jewish nationalism. For them, the messianic promise of the Old Testament meant that the Jews were to be a free and independent nation. God alone was their king, and any payment of taxes to the Romans—the very domination of the Romans—was a blasphemy against God. No doubt some of the Zealots were the spiritual heirs of the Maccabees, carrying on their ideals of religion and independence. But many were the counterparts of modern terrorists. They raided and killed, attacking both foreigners and “collaborating” Jews. They were chiefly responsible for the rebellion against Rome which ended in the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.

As in the case of all the apostles except for Peter, James and John, we are faced with men who are really unknown, and we are struck by the fact that their holiness is simply taken to be a gift of Christ. He chose some unlikely people: a former Zealot, a former (crooked) tax collector, an impetuous fisherman, two “sons of thunder,” and a man named Judas Iscariot.

It is a reminder that we cannot receive too often. Holiness does not depend on human merit, culture, personality, effort, or achievement. It is entirely God’s creation and gift. God needs no Zealots to bring about the kingdom by force. Jude, like all the saints, is the saint of the impossible: Only God can create his divine life in human beings. And God wills to do so, for all of us.

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.” - Sister Lucia dos Santos, Fatima seer

🌟365 Days with the Lord🌟
🟥 Sts. Simon & Jude, Apostles | October 28, 2026

✅ First Reading: Eph 2:19-22
✅ Responsorial Psalm: Ps 198 ~ "Their message goes out through all the earth."
✅ Gospel: Lk 6:12-16

The Apostles chosen by Jesus did not have special gifts nor training, but what was common among them was their love and devoted following of their Master. Their holiness was not brought about by their natural endowment or achievements. They recognized God's call, they believed and followed.

🌟365 Days with the Lord🌟
🟩 Tuesday of the 30th Week in Ordinary Time | October 27, 2026

✅ First Reading: Eph 5:21-33
✅ Responsorial Psalm: Ps 128 ~ "Blessed are those who fear the Lord."
✅ Gospel: Lk 13:18-21

The humble beginnings of the "Jesus movement" is the perfect explanation of the parables in the Gospel today. Similar to a tiny mustard seed, Jesus' ministry of preaching and freeing people from the material and spiritual oppression slowly manifests itself as the enactment of God's dream and desire for the salvation of the world.

Even now, God's reign continues to manifest itself in the ordinariness of life. In the little acts of kindness, compassion, patience, and love, we are able to show the growth of faith in God, his reign in our hearts and in our circle of influence. When we allow our faith of life to "color and add taste" to our little actions, it becomes an attractive element to unbelievers to stop and wonder why we do things differently. And hopefully, our way of being and doing becomes an invitation for others to know and discover the reality of God's reign here and now.

🌟365 Days with the Lord🌟
🟩 Monday of the 30th Week in Ordinary Time | October 26, 2026

✅ First Reading: Eph 4:32—5:8
✅ Responsorial Psalm: Ps 1 ~ "Behave like God as his very dear children."
✅ Gospel: Lk 13:10-17

The healing of the "bent and bound woman" in today's Gospel is a clear enactment of the vision-mission of Jesus (Lk 4:18). Jesus sets the woman free from her illness. Through this, he proclaims to her and to his critics the compassion of God. For 18 years, she has been bound by her sickness, she should not be further bound by the laws of the Sabbath.

This is also a challenge of Jesus to us all, his followers: to honor the person , to enhance the person's dignity as a child of God. If we can help any sister or brother to unbound herself/himself from any enslaving element, then we are on the way to understanding and fulfilling the mission of Jesus in the world.
