HAPPENING NOW | From Self-Care to Shared Care

In celebration of Mental Health Month 2026, NU Dasmariñas conducts the psychoeducation session “Fostering a Compassionate and Resilient University Workplace” today, October 28, at the NUD Function Hall.

Led by resource speaker Dr. Quintin L. Subong IV, RGC, Director of the Human Resource Development Office of Cavite State University, the session brings together faculty members and ASPs to strengthen mental health awareness and promote a more compassionate and supportive workplace.

“What do you do when you can’t change the situation?” 🌱

Sometimes, life surprises us with challenges we never asked for and situations beyond our control. We may feel frustrated, disappointed, or even angry—and that’s okay. What matters is what we choose to do next. 💚

Instead of focusing on what we cannot change, let’s focus on what we can learn, how we can adapt, and who we can become through the experience.

Yes, we know—it’s easier said than done. But growth often begins when we choose to see the bigger picture. Some seasons are not meant to be comfortable; they are meant to strengthen us, teach us resilience, and help us discover parts of ourselves we never knew existed. 🌱

Sometimes, growth begins when we stop asking, “Why is this happening to me?” and start asking, “What can this teach me?” 🌼

Life may not always give us the situation we want, but it can always give us the chance to
grow through it.

Exams may test what you know, but they can never measure how far you’ve come.

A friendly reminder that despite being bombarded with notes, reviewers, and everything else, do not forget to take a deep breath and remind yourself that you’ve got this.

Yes, there are bumps and challenges here and there, but when you pause for a while and look back, you will see how far you’ve come. You’ve come too far to doubt yourself now. Let those mini achievements be a reminder of your success and how capable you are. Enjoy this journey. It is never about being perfect; it is all about growth, learning, and showing up even during difficult times.

As you take your exams, remember to breathe, stay calm, and trust yourself. Focus on one question at a time, believe in your preparation, and trust the effort you’ve invested. You know more than you think, and your hard work will speak for itself. Do your best and let that be enough.

Don't let doubt be louder than your progress.

You don’t have to carry it alone.

Life, in general, offers a lot- and while parts of it are exciting, it can also feel overwhelming. You might have days filled with accomplishments and opportunities, but other days you might feel stressed, insecure, or doubtful.

During those moments, remember that support is always within reach. There will always be someone who can lend a hand, a shoulder to lean on, or simply be there to help make things a little easier.

As we take care of our bodies, we must also take good care of our mental health. Sometimes, one of the most meaningful ways to do that is by reaching out to others. A listening ear or a simple conversation can remind us that we do not have to carry our burdens on our own.

Let us join hands in building a community where everyone feels welcome, valued, heard, and supported, for no one should go through the storm alone.

Connect. Grow. Thrive.

Because taking care of your mental health begins by reaching in and grows stronger when we reach out.

A little act of kindness could go a long way.

As we celebrate Mental Health Month, let’s remember that caring for our mental well-being begins with kindness—to ourselves and to others.

Because a small act of kindness can make someone’s day- and sometimes make someone feel less alone.
