𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟔-𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔
𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜: 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲
𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐬 𝟐𝟗:𝟐𝟑

Our verse for the week reminds us that living a life of humility is indeed a demonstration of wisdom. On the other hand, a person who lives in pride will eventually be brought low, as pride dishonors both the person and God.

Serving the Lord out of pride never glorifies His name. In the New Testament, the Lord Jesus Christ rebuked the Pharisees for their self-seeking motives and desire for recognition. This is an example of false humility, which often involves displaying an outward appearance of virtue to gain the approval of others. False humility makes a person look and sound humble, but beneath that appearance lies a heart filled with pride.

On the other hand, humbly serving one another does not mean that we consider ourselves inferior to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Instead, it demonstrates our willingness to put their needs before our own. As one article states, “True Christian humility is rooted in the example of Jesus Christ. In obedient submission to His Father, Jesus humbled Himself for humanity's sake: ‘Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being . . . and died a criminal's death on a cross’ (Philippians 2:6–8, NLT). Jesus laid down all self-interest to serve others.”

As Christians, may we always serve the Lord with a humble spirit, willingly submitting to His will and obeying His Word. May we also cultivate hearts that continually seek to help others love and serve the Lord. May our service never be driven by pride or a desire for recognition, but by a sincere desire to glorify God.

Fellowship Baptist College (FBC), through its Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) FBC student chapter, participated in the 41st National Civil Engineering Student Quiz (NCESQ)–Negros Island Region (NIR) Regional Elimination held at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod City on October 24, 2026.

The competition tested students’ knowledge and skills in problem-solving and various civil engineering fields, including Environmental and Energy Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Hydraulics, Geotechnical Engineering, and Design and Construction.

Representing FBC were Hendrick Gonzales (BSCE 4), Andrie Joseph Fortich (BSCE 4), and Christine Mae Susana (BSCE 3), accompanied by their PICE Student Chapter Adviser, Engr. Jhazzine Mae Mixon, RMP, and Virgil Vincent Rosaldo, PICE-FBC SC President. They competed against students from other institutions across the region.

Among the highlights of the competition, Gonzales earned a perfect score of 10 points in the Design and Construction category, demonstrating his knowledge and proficiency in the field.

FBC's participation in the regional competition highlights its commitment to developing students' knowledge, technical skills, and excellence beyond the classroom.

College Guidance Counselor, Ma’am Meah Jel Agudo, Miss Steffi Louise Arellano, and Sir Eric Bulanadi joined fellow guidance practitioners at the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, Inc. (PGCA) 61st Midyear Conference, held at Silliman University on October 22–23, 2026.

The theme "The Global Helping Professional: Images, Realities, Aspirations," provides a platform for practitioners to discuss critical industry challenges and refine counseling practices.

During the conference opening, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairperson Hon. Charito A. Zamora delivered a keynote address emphasizing that helping professionals must possess both competence and compassion, which she defined as maintaining integrity in their practice, earning the trust of others, and dedicating themselves to service.

Across the two-day event, leading mental health and education experts discussed critical directives and initiatives, addresses the shortage of school guidance counselors and incorporating mental health into academic modules to strengthening child protection, navigating complex counseling roles, and building structured peer support programs to promote youth resilience.

🏆 For the Electronics Technician (ECT) Licensure Exam, CECS achieved an outstanding 100.00% overall passing rate and 100.00% first-takers passing rate, exceeding the national passing rate of 87.70%.
